I received a note from Legacy regarding the anniversary of Richs passing. Rich was a great friend and the most helpful person to all who needed him. He was a true servant of the members of Local 900.
I think of Rich & Martha often and especially when I go by there home. He was a true friend and I miss his company. We spent many hours together talking strategy and the help he gave me was immeasurable. He was a wonderful person and the best friend anyone could have asked for. He will always be a memory with me for my lifetime.

Julie, Mike and Jeff,

I just read of your Dad's passing. Even though it has been nearly a year, I was deeply moved to read of it. You may recollect that when we were unruly kids, you lived across the creek and through the woods from the Kellys. My dad had died and your Dad was kind, powerful and understanding. I remember the glint in his eye and his love of fun (and of his dog, Tar!), his honesty, and his ability to see through any hogwash from us, the kids, as we learned, and as he taught, how to get on in the world. I also remember and will never forget that he helped build my cub scout pinewood derby when I had no Dad to assist. Anyway, he will always be, in my heart, a great man. I wish you all the very best as you carry forward his memory. Blessings to all of you,

-Ed Kelly

Julie, Mike & Jeff,

I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was truly a kind and compassionate man. My father, Harold (Polecat) Porter and Rich were Great Friends - may years together at Canal Fulton Ramrod Club and various other gun shows. He would alway stop out on Nimisila Rd. and see Dad-as they enjoyed the same hobbies, gun and such. Dad loved Rich and gave him his pocket watch before he passed away. I can rejoice knowing they are having a good time in Heaven.

My thought and prayers for your families.

We are so very sorry for the loss of this great man who endured loss of his own but never a broken spirit. He remained full of kindness and love for all those he loved and those he came in contact with. His life was full and he loved visiting family (including his Uncle Kermit and Aunt Carolyn Jarvis). He was a blessing to all. God bless you all with His comfort and peace and promise of eternal life through His son Jesus Christ.

Jeff, Mike and Julie,
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your father and our dear friend. We are blessed to have been his friend and have many wonderful memories. Words can't describe the impact that he had on our lives. Our memories of Rich will include his wisdom, integrity and desire to help others. We find comfort in Psalms 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints".
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. You were all so important and precious to Rich.

September 23, 2010

Jeff, Julie, Mike and children, You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Your family has carried many crosses these past few years but God's grace will once again carry you through. Your parents were wonderful people, and now they are together in heaven, enjoying their son, Steve, and all that heaven has to offer; no pain, no heartache, but only peace and joy. They are with you always. Don't forget that. Love and Prayers -- The McNeill Family

Julie, Mike, Jeff and families....
I do not really have the words to express the level of my sympathy on the loss of your dad (grandpa, uncle, friend, etc.) It is so tragic since he had a zest for life recently and was able to get through too many of life's challenges. Yet, he remained kind, faithful, and gentle. However, I truly believe he is now surrounded by more love than we can even imagine.
Keeping you all in prayer.
See you later in the week,
Cindee

I am so deeply saddened to hear the news.

Words at such a time......... What does one say to give comfort.....

He has always been dear to me, in many ways, over the years. I have always admired how wonderful he was to others. His attitude and fortitude, was truly inspirational.
May his kind spirit, gentle nature, and unwavering integrity live on, in the many lives he has touched so dearly. May we all find peace in knowing how much he loved his family and in how much they love him. And, may time and fond memories, bring peace and comfort, to all those who mourn his passing.
My life is better for knowing him… I will miss his smiling face, and I will carry him in my heart, always...
Rest in peace dear friend, Uncle Rick.
