Robert Lee Kimmerle, "Bob," quietly passed away Monday morning, January 26th, at his home in Hudson, Ohio, as a result of complications from his battle with cancer. Mr. Kimmerle was 78 years old.
He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on June 1st, 1930, and was the eldest son of Wilber P. and Madelynn Kinser Kimmerle. Bob lived most of his life in Hudson, Ohio. Mr. Kimmerle graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Indiana University, where he had received a football scholarship. He worked for U.S. Gypsum before he started his career in industrial gases at Burdett Oxygen Co. in Cleveland, Ohio. Bob owned Welker Welding Supplies, North American Cryogenics and Willoughby Oxygen in the Cleveland area. He was a leader in the distribution of rare, specialty gases and cryogenics in the Midwestern and Eastern United States. In his later years, he purchased and operated Duffy's Restaurant in Akron, Ohio which he much enjoyed Throughout his life, Mr. Kimmerle influenced, guided, assisted and touched many people's lives. He was generous with his family, friends, employees, and acquain-tances. He kindly provided guidance and wisdom to all who sought it.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Ireland Kimmerle; his children (with their mother Catherine Gail Joslyn of Hudson, Ohio), Kurt Kimmerle (Sue) of Middleburg Heights, Katherine Grady (Bill) of Waterville Valley, N.H., Douglas Kimmerle of Lihue, Kauai, William Kimmerle of Hudson, Ohio and Mary Lawlor (Ritch) of Hudson, Ohio, and his stepchildren, George E. Hunt (Michele) of Akron, Ohio, Denise Litzinger (Lenny) of Peninsula, Ohio, and Diana E.M. Hunt of Hudson, Ohio. He was also a loving father to his grandson, Alexander. He leaves his siblings, John Kimmerle (Norma) of Columbus, Ohio, David Kimmerle of Terre Haute, Ind., Thomas Kimmerle (Donna) of Lexington, Ohio, Maria Landesman (Jay) of New York, N.Y., and brother-in-law, Jack W. Ireland of Akron, Ohio. Mr. Kimmerle also leaves behind, his 23 wonderful grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Brianna, Crystal, Eric, George C., Haley, Jack, Jeanie, Joseph, Kevin, KK, Koa Robert, Jessica, Kristen, Kristopher (Tricia), Kyle, Mac, Matthew Jon, Matthew Paul, Mitchell, Nicole, and Will, and two great-grandchildren, Seth and Silas. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lou Kimmerle, and stepson, Jerry Van Hunt.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home (330-650-4181) located at 19 East Main St., Hudson, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st at St. Mary's Catholic Church (330-653-8118) located at 340 North Main St., Hudson, Ohio.
The family encourages memorial donations to: the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Hospice, in lieu of flowers.

I am sorry to learn of, and have missed the notice of, Bob's passing. I will always remember the good times, the advice offered, taken at times ~ passed on at others, and the life lessons learned @ Red Fox Trail and later on Hudson Street. You are all in my prayers in this time of loss.
