May you rest in peace Mr.McMoore, I can't say that I have ever met, but I buried a few loved ones through the services of Stewart & Calhoun, and from my understanding you may have been there, and to you I say thanks. After reading the article about you, I feel cheated for never knowing you as you seemed to have been the Angel on earth that we all have heard about. May God bless and strengthen your loved ones here on earth, and you continue to draw your wonderful pictures in Heaven for all too see.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I didn't know Mr. McMoore but seen him around, the story in the beacon touched me as well as others who didn't know him. I know that God greeted him with open arms and said: Well done!

As a child, my mother, and sister were nurses @ Stewart&Calhoun to help with the families during the wake and funerals. Alfred was always there too!! while my mother and sister were busy working Alfred was trying to teach me to draw.Needless to say I never learned but Alfred never forgot me!!! My mother recently moved to the apt.building Alfred lived in and the first time he saw her he knew her name and when I came up asked him if he knew who I was...He said "I tried to teach you to draw when you were little now you got bigger"(LAUGHING)your name is Francine, Mrs James daughter"(that was my fathers name)(smilin) ..Alfred I will miss you a bunch never ever forgetting you!!..Francine(Suggs)

God wrapped his arms around Alfred and took him home. May you rest in peace Alfred. I didn't know Alfred personaly, but I work in the building where he lived. He always spoke to me when I said hello. He didn't bother anyone. Sometimes he would sit in the lobby with us. To Alfred's family, may God Bless and keep you all.

To the family of Alfred, I was shocked to hear about his passing, I knew Alfred from when his sister lived above us on Lods street and Alfred would visit her, we were kids and he was the sweetest and most polite young man who loved to draw LAMPS and LIGHT BULBS all up and down the wall of his sister's appartment not just any kinda lamps but BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL LAMPS and no one ever got mad at him for doing it. I could never ever forget Alfred, I would see him often over there on Thornton St. and downtown, just any and everywhere and it would always bring a smile to my face. We may never know why God will allow people into our lives but one thing I do know is I am glad I had the joy of knowing ALFRED MCMOORE
From a little boy who lived on Duane St. in the 60's

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I remember Alfred from way back when Phyllis and I were kids, around 12 or 13, over the years I saw him at just about every home going service I'd ever been to at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral home, and I was amazed by the wonderful article ABJ did on him for his art work, I know this kind soul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. You are all so deeply in our hearts and prayers.

I first met Alfred 39 years ago at Stewart & Calhoun's funeral home. The next time I saw him at the funeral home, he showed me a picture that he had drawn of me on my police motorcycle. He was a gifted artist and very unique individual. I'll miss him waiting for me in front of the police station. Offering my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

For those that didn't know, Alfred was a gifted and talented artist, who drew beautiful chalk chandelier's in the street on Duane Street on the East Side of Akron and a caring individual that didn't meet any strangers! We will miss him riding that bike and his faithful attendance to everyone's farewell services at Stewart & Calhoun.
