Daniel O'CONNOR Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10, 2011.
O'CONNOR, Daniel (Danny) Edward.
Peacefully on Sunday, November 6th, 2011. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Danny O'Connor, born December 20, 1942 in Ottawa. Son of the late Edward & Irene O'Connor. Loving brother of Ann Ronberg (wife of Ted). Dear uncle of Rick and Rob. Proud and loving great uncle of Bailey, Brooke, Avery, Luke and Connor. Danny was for many years a volunteer at CHEO and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Many thanks to the superb nursing care at St. Vincent's Hospital. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd. at Roosevelt on Thursday, November 10th, 2011 from 5:30 - 8 pm at which time there will be a toast in honour of Danny. Donations to Saint Vincent's Hospital would be appreciated. Donations, tributes and condolences may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com .

My condolances to Ann and Ted and family for always being there for Dan. God bless his soul. May God have mercy on him.

We met Danny when Irene and Eddie moved to Heron Road. We will never forget when he came running over to tell us our three year old was heading towards the busy road. As so many people commented, he had such a beautiful smile. We know he will be missed but he will be at peace with his parents. Our deepest sympathy.

I met 'Dan the Man' on my first day of work at CHEO, 18 years ago. He made quite an impression with his amazing smile, and his 'thumbs up'. It was always a pleasure to see Dan in the halls. No matter how hard a day it was, he could cheer us up with his enthusiasm and happy nature. My deepest sympathies to Danny's family.

I am really sorry to hear about Danny, mom (Bev Allan) always loved to see him smile and I very much enjoyed playing Bingo with him on Mondays. The first luncheon I attended with mom you were sitting with us wearing your nor'wester (newfi rain hat) I knew you and mom would be good friends. Give mom a hug for me Danny and may you always be a peace. Heather Kelly
