Melania Tomkowicz

TOMKOWICZ, Melania (nee Borowska) January 6, 1925 - July 18, 2007 Following a courageous battle with cancer, dear "Mrs. Tom" peacefully passed away in hospital on July 18, 2007. Daughter of the late Ignacy Borowski and Eufemia Sicinska, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanislaw Tomkowicz. She leaves a nephew, George Borowski, and niece, Donna Jasinski of the GTA, and relatives in Poland. She immigrated to her beloved Canada after having survived the hardships of WWII in both her native Poland and in work camps in Germany. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by colleagues, friends and neighbours, and especially by many neighbourhood children on whom she lovingly doted over the years. Special thanks to Mike for taking good care of Melania and her "little house", as well to Teresa for her kind help and assistance. Heartfelt appreciation to staff, nurses and doctors of the Montfort Hospital (4th floor, south) for their compassion and wonderful care. At her request, there will be no funeral service. Friends and family are welcome to share in honouring her life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25th, 2007, at the Annunciation of the Lord Parish Hall, 2414 Ogilvie Road.
