Leslie "Buddy" SPERO

SPERO, Leslie W. Leslie W. Spero, "Buddy," was born in Youngstown, OH, the son of Harry and Sadie Spero. After high school, he served in WWII and The Korean War. Mr. Spero graduated Summa cum Laude with a Business Degree from UCLA. Leslie Spero went on to Harvard Business School for a Business Executive Certificate Program. Leslie entered his family's linen service and distribution company, United Service Company, in Youngstown, OH. After becoming the company's Chairman and President, Mr. Spero became The National President of The Textile Rental Association of America. The United Service Company celebrated 75 years in business before being sold in the 1980's. In April, 1981, Leslie Spero was inducted into Mensa. Mr. Spero had a long, illustrious civic life in OH. He was on the Board of Directors for The Dollar Savings and Trust, President of The Child Guidance Center, President of The Jewish Federation, served on the Board of the Child and Adult Mental Health Center for The March of Dimes National Foundation, and served on the Board of Directors of The Heritage Manor Home for the Aged. Buddy was a Board Member of The United Way, A Board Member of Belfare Home for Children, a Board Member of Union National Bank, and Commander of The Youngstown Power Squadron. After moving to Palm Beach, Leslie Spero's generosity and commitment continued. He was Chairman of The American Lung Association Fund Raiser Events, a Laureate Society Member of The American Cancer Society, Co-Chairman of the Annual Palm Beach American Cancer Society Gala, a Garnet Society Member of WXEL Television and Radio, and a Dress Circle Member of The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Spero was an active member of The American Heart Association, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The American Red Cross, The Jewish Guild for the Blind, The Palm Beach International Society, The Israel Cancer Association, and The Chen de Rotisserie. He was a life-long learner, an avid golfer, tennis player, photographer, reader and boat enthusiast. Mr. Spero is survived by his adoring wife, Patricia "Patsy" Spero, his son Rand Spero (Barbara), his daughter Laurie Diane Spero, his step daughter Jennifer Gofman (Slavik), and his step daughter Stephanie Eisler (Barry). Leslie has 5 loving grandchildren, Emma, Danny, Zoe, Cooper and Harper.
