LENZNER, Israel Z.
Israel Z. Lenzner, age 94, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away June 12, 2015. Loving father of Diane (Chuck) Cohen of Wellington, FL and Michael (Jennifer) Lenzner of Naples, FL. Caring grandfather of Alexis Cohen. Beloved companion of Joyce Kahn of Delray Beach, FL. Also survived by loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Son of the late Sol and Eva Lenzner. Stepson of the late Ida Lenzner. Brother of the late Dorothy (Arthur) Goldberg, Joseph, Abraham, and Milton Lenzner. Husband of the late Doris Spears Silfen (Harrison, NY). Born June 5, 1921, in Buffalo, NY, Israel Lenzner graduated from Lafayette High School, Buffalo, NY in 1939. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 1943, with a Bachelor's of Science degree. Iz served in the US Naval Reserve during World War II where he was discharged from active duty as a Lieutenant in 1946. He then returned to Buffalo and entered the family business, the Sol Lenzner Corporation on Genesee Street, producing carbonated beverages, fruit syrups and preserved fish (salt, smoked, pickled). Mr. Lenzner, from 1967 to 1988, was the CEO of Industrial Chemical, Inc., in Westchester (NY) County. Upon his retirement in 1988, Iz moved to Boca Raton, FL. He was a lifelong golfer who experienced the thrill of hitting a 'Hole-in-One' in 1990. Iz was a former member of Erie Downs Golf and Country Club (Fort Erie, Ontario), The Montefiore Club of Buffalo, Brae Burn Country Club (Harrison, NY), and High Ridge Country Club (Boynton Beach, FL). He also enjoyed snow skiing with his family and playing bridge with Joyce. A memorial service was held at Harbours' Edge, Delray Beach, FL and an Honor Guard service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery, Boynton Beach, FL at a later date. Donations may be made to either The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (michaeljfox.org) or the World Jewish Congress (worldjewishcongress.org).

Izzie was a lovely man! He always treated me with kindness and respect. I loved his sense of humor and he was always on the top of my list to visit when I was in South Palm.
