Mildred King Obituary

Mildred King passed away Monday, August 24th. She was born Mildred Marie Geraldine Lancaster on January 4, 1916 to Elise Lajoi and Allen Lancaster in LaGrange, Maine. She grew up in Chicopee, Massachusetts. In the early 1940's she married Kenneth Edward King. They rode out west on Ken's Indian motorcycle, camping along the way and settled in Los Angeles. In 1952 they moved to Paradise. Mildred was an accomplished violinist and played for many years in the Chico Symphony and Paradise Symphony orchestras. Mildred and Ken had a metaphysical library and were interested in health foods. Ken predeceased Mildred in 1958. Mildred worked for many years and retired from the Butte County Welfare Department in 1981. Mildred enjoyed knitting, crocheting, art and especially music, listening to the Metropolitan Opera's Saturday matinee broadcasts every week.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Holt (Ken) and Barbara Wagoner (John); five grandchildren, Bob Brannan, Andrew Brannan (Susan), Brian Wagoner (Jacinta), Tina Bramson (Jason), and Ashley Whitehead; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Brannan, Aoife Fisher, Ella and Owen Bramson; and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings, Leon Lancaster, Roland Lancaster and Erma Daignalt predeceased her.

For the past ten years Mildred has been very fortunate to have Marti Evans as her care giver.

A celebration of Mildred's life will be held at a future date. Newton-Bracewell is caring for arrangements. You may share your thoughts online at nbcfh.com
