Roger Moses Obituary

Roger Ralph Moses was born on September 4, 1940, to Jeanette Mae (Henke) Moses and Ralph John Moses in Bigfork, Minnesota.

When Roger was 6 years old, the family moved from Minnesota to Port Townsend.

Roger attended and graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1958. He then attended college at Western Washington University for a couple of years.

Roger enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi and Beeville, Texas, where he worked on the flight line as an aviation structural mechanic third class from 1962 to 1966.

Roger spent some time living in Louisiana but made his way back to the Pacific Northwest and attended cooking school at Central Seattle Community College.

He met his wife, Bonnie, while they were both attending CSCC.

They married on August 20, 1971, and lived in Seattle, Washington.

They moved to Port Angeles, where they both worked at Aggie's Restaurant.

They had two children, Tammi Lynn Moses in 1973 and Daniel Dean Moses in 1975.

Roger left Aggie's Restaurant for higher pay and began setting chokers in the woods. He eventually was hired at Olympic National Park, working there for 19 years.

During this time, he attended Peninsula College for a couple of years.

Roger loved spending time outdoors, hiking and working on the West End.

He was an avid cook, baker and gardener. For many years, he grew a large garden and shared the produce with neighbors, family and friends.

He played numerous instruments, the accordion, guitar, banjo and harmonica.

He sang for many years in the choir at Independent Bible Church and enjoyed the people he sang with and got to be friends with through the choir.

Roger enjoyed a good laugh and shared a good sense of humor with his family and friends.

He enjoyed having a hobby farm that had goats, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, cows, cats, dogs, sheep and a llama.

Roger was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia Moses; his mother, Jeanette Meszaros; his father, Ralph Moses; stepmother Annie Mae Moses; stepfather Leslie Meszaros; and his son, Daniel Moses.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Moses, at the family home in Port Angeles, and his daughter, Tammi Lynn Moses of Oak Harbor, Washington. He is also survived by his sisters Lynn (Steve) Moses of Littlerock, Washington, and Janet (Barry) Armitage of Orting, Washington; and his brother, Lee Meszaros (Denise) of Port Angeles. He is also survived by numerous stepsiblings, nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States.

Services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Independent Bible Church, 116 East Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., a funeral service at 11 a.m., and a reception will follow from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, 45 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

I am Roger's cousin - I remember when Roger would come over to my mom's and we would all talk and laugh - he would help my mom out a lot - I always remember Roger as a workaholic - I also remember he had a lot of skills in the parks Department and the cooking field - I will miss him a lot and think of him forever-he was a big part in our family when I lived in Port Angeles - my condolences go to Bonnie and Tammy and the rest of the family--I love you all.
