Michael Barrow Obituary

Michael David Barrow

1950-2012

David Barrow, 61, of Pace, FL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2012, while vacationing in northern Georgia. David was born on October 9, 1950, in Pensacola, FL. He played trombone in the Pensacola High School Band and graduated in 1968. He graduated from Troy State University and married Linda in 1973. He then began his career as a public school educator, teaching social studies for 35 years at Brownsville, Brentwood, and Ransom Middle Schools. David was enjoying his retirement traveling, camping, fishing, and golfing. He was a genuine and devoted Christian, using his talent to sing praise and play trombone in worship. David was a willing servant of God throughout the years at Immanuel Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and was always there to lend them a hand, give encouragement, and make them smile. He was a faithful, patient husband and best friend to Linda. He was a devoted father to Bret and Lindy, and loving granddaddy to Mason, who were the greatest joys in his life. He was a caring son to his mother, Jerry. He was preceded in death by his father Looman Barrow. David is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda; his son Bret (Amy); his daughter Lindy (Joseph) Rosal; his grandson Mason Barrow; his mother, Geraldine; his brother Bill (Lyl); 7 nieces and nephews and their families; his father-in-law Ray (Jan) Bagley; and his brother-in-law Victor (Shelly) Bagley; and special brother-in-law Duane Bagley. Dad taught us by example to enjoy the simple treasures in life. We have been blessed to share life with him and will keep him in our hearts always.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, October 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 4187 Hwy 90, Pace, FL 32571. Funeral services will be Friday, October 12 at 10 a.m. at IBC with Brother Joe Gwyn officiating. Interment will follow at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery in Chumuckla. Family and close friends will serve as pallbearers.

To honor David's memory the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, or to the charity of your choice.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Hwy 29S, Cantonment, is in charge of the arrangements. Family and friends may express their condolences online at www.fcfhs.com.

I regret to learn of the loss of David. I have vivid memories of him from Pensacola High School in the band my senior year and in physical education. He was one of the most clean-cut guys I have ever known, always cheerful and with a kind word for everyone, a real Christian. I enjoyed very much hearing him play his trombone, which was also my instrument and I believe that he sat nearby when we performed. My condolences to Bill and the Barrow family.

Dear Barrow family,
we were stunned to hear the news of David's passing last week -- our deepest sympathies go out to all of you. I'm thankful we had a chance to spend some time with all of you when we were in the States several years ago, and even more thankful when I think back on my conversation with David. The fruit of David's relationship with Christ was evident, not just through his words but through his actions and kindness toward us. I look forward to the day when we will see him again, and pray that you would experience the peace and love of our Father during this difficult time.
love, Bob & Andrea Burnham

Linda,
Robin and I are so sad to read of David's passing. We both knew him at Brownsville Middle School, and I had the privilege of teaching with David for several years. He was such a pleasure to spend time with, and he was always the life of the Christmas faculty parties! We enjoyed hearing him share his stories of the family camping trips. Actually, David is the one who inspired us to start doing our own outdoor adventures. We know you will miss him terribly, but you will meet him again in heaven. May God bless you and the kids and give you strength to get through these difficult days.

Linda,

You will never know how shocked Denise and I were when we heard of David's homegoing. I know that we have not seen much of each other through the years, but we did keep up with the two of you through Tom, who taught with David at Ransom and my sister. Many times we talk about Granada and the good times we had and we think of your family and David's also. May God richly bless you and the kids and David's family now and the years to come. I lost my mom three years ago and I know that God does give grace to sustain us through hard times. We will pray for you and think of you often. Again, may God bless you and the kids and the grandchild.

Bill, I am truly sorry to hear about David. We went to school at Workman Junior High and PHS. He was always a great person to be around. Though I know you all will miss him we shall all be together again. He is there waiting with our LORD JESUS CHRIST. I offer my deepest sympathy to the Barrow Family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. May our LORD console your hearts and bless you all during this time.

To the Barrow Family,

I was in the band at PHS with David. He was a very sweet and sincere bandmate and classmate. He always had a smile for everyone and was forever helping anyone who needed it.

I'm sure he is playing the trombone in Heaven's Symphony.

May God be with you during this time of grief.

We were both shocked and saddened to learn of David's death this week! He and Linda were both friend's and neighbor's and it will be difficult to no longer see them together strolling about in the neighborhood. He was such a sweet and pleasant person. Even tempered, friendly and all in all a joy to have known. Raymond and I both want to extend our condolences to his family as well as his church family @ Immanuel Baptist church. This week as difficult as it is to accept David was promoted.... today he is present with our Lord. Well done good and faithful servant. Sincerely, Susan and Raymond Spears.
