Walter Ashton Busby

1926-2011

Walter Ashton Busby, 84, of Pace, FL went to be with the Lord on Thursday March 10, 2011 after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Walt was born in Pensacola, FL on March 21, 1926 to Manuel and Jeannette Busby. After graduating high school, he worked at the Pensacola Naval Air Station until 1944, when he was drafted into the military service of the United States Army Air Corp. After an honorable discharge as Sergeant from the Army Air Corp at the end of WWII, he returned to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola where he worked in the electroplating shop for 35 years.

He will be remembered as a kind, loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and uncle, as well as, an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jim Edens of Potomac Falls, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Lynne Busby of Midlothian, VA; four beautiful and beloved granddaughters, Carissa Clark and Kelsey Edens, Hollyn and Laura Busby; three sisters, Dorothy Williamson and Jane Allen of Pace, FL and Betty (Jerry) Cox of Shalimar, FL; thee sisters-in-law, Cecile McCarley and Hazel (Elmo) Roberts of Hamilton, AL and Virginia (Ken) Davis of Biloxi, MS.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Exie Palmer Busby; his parents, one brother, Mannie Busby; and three sisters, Delores Chancey, Marjorie Chicouske and Marie Vance.

Funeral services will be Monday March 14, 2011 at 10 AM at the Chapel of National Cremation & Burial Society with Rev. John Webb officiating. Internment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Kenny Busby, Tony Busby, Jim Williamson, Barry Franklin, Chris Vance, Doyce Holland, Lincoln Cox, Lee Franklin, Jerry Cox and Tim Chancey. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Vance, Ron Boykin, Tommy Gann, Kenny McCarley, Ricky Williamson, Al Williamson and Jesse "Buddy" Gillman.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday March 13, from 3 until 5 PM.

National Cremation & Burial Society of Milton has charge of the arrangements.
