LAWRENCE WEBER Obituary

WEBER

LAWRENCE "LARRY" A., age 56, of Indianapolis, passed away December 31, 2012. He was born in Philadelphia to George and Edna Weber, and until August 2012 had resided for 10 years in Phoenixville, PA and prior to that in Berwyn, PA. Larry was a graduate of Devon Preparatory School, Devon, PA; Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA; and Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. He was an avid computing scientist, having worked at Bell Labs and at early Internet startup companies such as N2K Inc. He enjoyed mathematical games, piano playing, cats, wide-ranging trivial trivia, clarity of thinking, the energetic thoughtfulness of his nieces and nephews, clever email banter, debunking the positions of TV commentators, and an unrelenting dry wit.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Bell) Weber, currently of Indianapolis, IN; and his sister, Deborah Hanks of Westfield, MA.
A memorial service for Larry Weber will be held at the Marple Presbyterian Church, 105 N. Sproul Rd, Broomall, PA on Saturday, January 19th at 11 A.M. Family and friends are invited to also attend a visitation at the Church from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Larry are welcome for the Pennsylvania SPCA, http://pspca.org/support-us/community-partners/tributes/.

Larry was one of the sharpest, most acerbic people I knew at Dickinson. We spent hours putting out the Dickinsonian in 74,75 on Thursday nights. Years later, I was at a restaurant bar off 202 in Devon, talking to the guy next to me, competing hard in the trivia games. Turns out it was Larry...and we talked for 90 minutes. One of a kind.

I'm so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I was Larry's classmate at Devon. He was one of the funniest guys I've ever met. His dry wit was unmatched. Whenever I've thought of Larry over the years, a smile would come easily. He almost single-handedly wrote our senior yearbook - it's a classic. He has left us far too soon. May he rest in peace and may your sorrow be lightened by your memories. Jim Daly
