Constance "Connie" Thrift Cook

Chesterfield - age 90, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord July 22, 2017. Born May 5, 1927 in Richmond, Va., she moved to Virginia Beach in 1969, where she resided until 1995. She was predeceased by her parents, Tony and Lucy C. Childress; sister, Elizabeth C. Morris; brother, Tony Childress Jr.; great-grandson, Timothy Hinant; and her beloved husbands, Colonel Jack C. Cook and Webster B. Thrift. She is survived by her three daughters, Jacqueline New, Beverly Ramsey, both of Chesterfield and Deborah Giggleman (Bobby) of Punta Gorda, Fla.; very devoted sister, Regina Lind of Midlothian; seven grandchildren, Jackie Hinant (Mike), Tracey Hubbard(Sterling), Vickie Talley (Keith), Connie Reece (Harvey), James "Bubba" Hairfield, all of Chesterfield, John Smaltz (Amy) of Leesville, S.C. and Crystal Bake (Mike)of Arcadia, Fla.; nine-great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Connie worked and retired from EI DuPont and Leggett Department Store. May she soar peacefully with the doves to her new home. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A graveside service will be held 12 noon Thursday, July 27, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Va.
