Marie Jackson Obituary

Marie Jackson
Chesapeake - Marie passed peacefully from this life the evening of March 22nd after a brief decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by loving family, friends and caregivers during her last days. Marie was born in Waynesboro, GA, but lived more than half of her life in Syracuse, NY. After raising her four children, Marie moved to Chesapeake, VA with her son Derrick and daughter-in-law Michelle, where she lived the remainder of her life. Marie loved the Lord and was a Member and Usher at First Baptist Church South Hill in Chesapeake, VA. While living in Syracuse, NY, Marie was a Member and Usher at Southern Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a longtime supporter of Disabled American Veterans. Marie was also an avid bowler, who had a pretty mean twist when throwing that bowling ball. She had a big heart and a beautiful smile. She was feisty and full of life and her presence will be GREATLY missed. Marie was preceded in death by her father Cleveland Jackson, Sr. and her mother Millie Jackson. Marie is survived by her four children (and spouses) Derrick (Michelle) Jackson, Kimberly (Robert) Brewer, Felicia (Johnny) Ferebee and Demetria Golden; sixteen grandchildren - Melshanique Holloway, Aleta Holloway, Daquan Jackson, Kendra Jackson, Alishia Jackson, Julius Lindsey, James Strickland, Taylor Jackson, Princess-Kymmya Strickland, Tamera Jackson, Jalynn Ferebee, Trinity Jackson, Mekhi Cameron, Jordan Ferebee, Jayden Ferebee and Denham Brewer; and four great grandchildren - Ariel Kraus-Holloway, Jordan Teal, Christian McGraw and Dominic Robinson. Marie is also survived by her sisters Ida (Franklin) Curry, Lena Moss, brother Cleveland Jackson, Jr.; several half-siblings, a sister-in-law and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Marie also leaves to mourn a large extended family. That includes the McClain Family, her Best Friend Jerri Wells, her adopted families Elisha "Cadillac" and Bonita Billingsley Harris; Rod and Joann Clay, Reginald and Jacqueline McDade and Henry Beard.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon at First Baptist Church South Hill on Saturday, March 30, and the Funeral will start promptly after at 12 Noon. Professional services are entrusted to Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Avenue.

Marie will be missed, I remember that beautiful smile and I remember the time spent over her house with Mark, Derrick, Rodney. But always remember
God is never distant He sheds a tear with you He knows the pain your feeling
And what you're going through When you place your hope In His undying love,
You will know His peace Like a mighty rushing flood.

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
