Frank Batton Obituary

Frank R. Batton
BARTONVILLE - Frank R. Batton, 95, of Bartonville, IL, passed away on Feb. 15, 2021, at 12:45 a.m., at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
"He Gone." If Frank would've had his way, that's all this obituary would say, but those who knew Frank knew he had a story worth telling once he was gone.
Frank was born Sept. 1, 1925, to Martha Surface and Eugene Roger Batton in Gideon, Missouri. He was raised by William and Bertha Hutchinson.
Frank is survived by his two sons, Steve (Gina) Batton of Peoria and Brian (Sheila) Batton of Bartonville; one daughter, Beverly Sutton of Morehouse, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Frank left this world to be reunited with his wife of 49 years, Cozette; two sons, Michael and Roger; his sister, Rosie; and granddaughter, Tammy.
Frank worked as a truck driver for Dohrn Transfer and Churchill Transfer, retiring after 25 years. In his down time, he loved fishing trips to Little Swan Lake, hunting, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Bradley Basketball, gardening, spending time with family and scratching off lottery tickets, as long as they were winners.
Frank and Cozette built a tradition of Friday night family dinners. Frank would start prepping his vegetables in the spring, until fall came around, then he spent his day harvesting vegetables. If he wasn't working on his garden, he was working on his flower beds. Frank continued to mow his own lawn until the age of 93, saying "well I need something to do."
He spent most mornings feeding stray neighborhood cats that he swore he "hated," but secretly loved, as evidenced by him continuing to buy them food every couple of weeks. Frank was a master of one-liner jokes, and could fix most anything brought his way.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Bartonville Fire Department.
Frank's family would like to thank the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for ensuring that Frank finished his journey comfortably.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the Swan Lake Memory Garden Mausoleum in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Our deepest condolences to Frank's family.
He was such a kind man and good neighbor. When our little 13 year old doxie pin left our yard, all I had to do was walk over to Frank's backyard and find our dog following Frank around while he was doing yard work. They both wanted me to wait longer to come and get him as I was interrupting their visit. He told us about moon flowers and passed seeds along and picked apples off of his apple tree for our granddaughter.
We miss seeing his kind smile.

It had been a few years now since I saw him. But I remember coming up there to visit he always made me laugh and feel welcome. I'm sure him and Cozette are together again talking about old times again.
