Gareth Greene Obituary
CHILLICOTHE - Gareth E. "Gary" Greene, age 73, of Chillicothe passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Gary was born on May 3, 1945, in Olney, IL, to Elmer E. and Florence Rae (Garrett) Greene. He married Mary E. Newcomb on January 23, 1982.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; his daughter, Gina (John) Miller of Logansport, IN; three step-children, Ellen (John) Bressner of Toulon, IL, David (Becky) Magner of Lexington, KY, and Susan (Scott) Faulkner of Dunlap, IL; and five grandchildren, Brandon, Andy and Sarah Magner, Jennifer (Joe) Marquez and Megan Faulkner. Also surviving is his sister, Eddi (Wayne) Fatheree of Flora, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one nephew.
Gary was a maintenance electrician and over the years he worked for WABCO, Bemis Bag Co. and URS until he retired in 2011. He was a life member of Peoria Casting Club, life member and past commander of the VFW Post 4999, life member of AMVETS Post 77 and a member of the American Legion Post 9. Gary was selected for the Greater Peoria Honor Flight in 2017. He enjoyed restoring old cars, boating and golfing.
Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Chillicothe Veterans Memorial or the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
