BARTONVILLE - Dorothy Elaine Bredernitz, 81, of Bartonville passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at her home.
She was born on August 1, 1939, in Peoria, a daughter of Thomas and Melba Thome. Dorothy married Lloyd A. Bredernitz on April 4, 1959, in Peoria, IL. He survives.
She is also survived by her two children, Diane (Roger) Cannon of St. Louis, MO, and Michael (Heidi) Bredernitz of Mapleton; six grandchildren, Jamie, Lisa (Rene), Clint, Kayla, Dan and Kelly; one great-grandchild, Evan; and one sibling, Marilyn Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dorothy last worked as the office manager for State Farm Insurance agent Dan Hordesky's office for 15 years, retiring in 1996. She previously worked as a local realtor and also worked for Bartonville Bank. Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Timberlake Country Club and American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. She also enjoyed playing cards with her monthly card club friends for many years. She was a proud "Air Force Wife" and loved traveling, spending winters in The Villages, FL, baking, family gatherings and being Grandma.
Dorothy's funeral service will be at 12 noon on Friday, April 2, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville. The Rev. Michael Jones will officiate. Her visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, also on Friday at the church. Interment will take place in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bartonville Fire Department, 5912 S. Adams St., Bartonville, IL 61607; or St. John Lutheran Church.
