BARTONVILLE - Lloyd Arthur Bredernitz, 87, of Bartonville passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at the Villas of Hollybrook and Reflections Memory Care in Peoria.
He was born on May 5, 1933, in Saline, MI, a son of Roland and Lucile (Buehler) Bredernitz. He married Dorothy Elaine Thome on April 4, 1959, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2021, in Bartonville.
Lloyd was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his two children, Diane (Roger) Cannon of St. Louis, MO, and Michael (Heidi) Bredernitz of Mapleton; six grandchildren, Jamie, Lisa (Rene), Clint, Kayla, Dan and Kelly; one great-grandchild, Evan; sister, Jean (Alex) McMahon of Houston, TX; and brother, Glenn (Lynn) Bredernitz of Fenton, MI.
Lloyd began working for the Michigan Bean Company in Fenton, MI, right out of high school. He then served in the United States Navy for four years. He reenlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 20 more years, retiring in 1973 as a Senior Master Sergeant. Lloyd last worked for Caterpillar, Inc. as a Test Engineer at the East Peoria Proving Grounds for 20 years, retiring again in 1994.
Lloyd was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Timberlake Country Club, Timberlake Birdie Chasers and the American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. A devout Christian and Michigan Man, Lloyd also enjoyed traveling, golf, fixing anything and everything, spending winters in The Villages, FL, and Dorothy's cooking.
Lloyd's celebration of life gathering/luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 2-ish p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Timberlake Country Club in Peoria. Military honors will be rendered at 2 p.m. on Saturday, also at the Country Club.
