Clyde Franklin Nichols, 81 of Gary, Indiana born September 6, 1939 in Savannah, Tennessee to the late Jim D. and Helen M. Nichols, transitioned from time to eternity on Sunday May 9, 2021 quietly at home. A graduate of Dunbar High School, Savannah in 1958. He served in the U S Army, following, he moved to Gary becoming the husband of Julia Howard, 1962. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 35 years in 2002. He sought to serve the Lord with gladness at Harvest Apostolic Church. He is preceded in death by step mother Sallie; brothers Jim D. Jr. and Daniel Nichols and Al; sisters Peggy, Vernetta, Ethel and Sarah. Clyde is survived by wife Julia; children Victor, Crystal Himden, Efram (Denise), Monica (William) and Anthony (Cheryl); 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, brothers Danny (Linda), Enis (Mary); sisters Mae, Diane, Joyce; sisters-in-law Doreen Nichols, Joyce Robinson and Sheila Howard; brother-in law James Willis Sr. and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday May 20, 2021 from 9-11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. All services at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Live Stream on Facebook @ Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc. Due to COVID-19 social distancing and masks are required.

What a wonderful life! To Efram, Crystal, and the entire Nichols family, it is so reassuring to know that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord! God has blessed your dear father with long life and the opportunity to serve Him with gladness. I remember his broad smile and his kindness. My condolences to the Nichols family
May the Lord comfort and strengthen you during your time of loss. I rememer my cousin when him and his wife used to come by our house to chat with my mom and dad and I would babysit their daughter, Crystal. Life was good and I enjoyed being around all my cousins and relatives growing up! May he RIH and RIP!
