John Alma Gould

1925 - 2021

Mrs. John Alma Gould, age 95 of Gary Indiana passed away on Saturday January 2, 2021 after a stroke. She was born on March 20, 1925 to John Peterson and Sarah Henry Peterson in Fairfield Alabama. She left Alabama and came to Gary, Indiana in 1945 and then met and married Willie L. Gould Sr. She attended cosmetology school under Mr. Eddie. She worked for the School City of Gary as a janitress for 24 years. She also was known for her penny candy store in Marshalltown where she lived 58 years. She loved to take pictures, travel and loved flowers in and outside of her home. She was a faithful, active member of First A.M.E. Church in Gary, Indiana for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her husband Willie L. Gould Sr. and brothers, Charles O. Ross, Hollis L. Ross and Eddie Morris Peterson. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Barbara Peterson, Brenda Winters, Bonita Gould, Bernadette Jones, Willie Gould Jr., Hollis (Arleen) Gould, John Jeffrey (Carolyn) Gould, and Alfred Gould, special friend, David Carter, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation Friday January 8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.-11:00a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. all services at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park. Due to COVID-19 mask and social distancing is required.
