Hi Gena, Mitch, and John Rex, I truly miss my dear friend. Last night I thought of her as the first pre-game of the Bulls came on. Gail and I would have a lot to talk about. Many time during the year I have thought if I could have called Gail and what her response would have been. Miss my dear friend dearly, but she is Okay. We all have to take care now and go on living to the utmost. Love you, Aunt Beverly

Mrs. Mitchell was my 8th grade teacher at Tolleston. She was a very nice woman that was no nonsense and always knew how to get a point across with no problem at all. I always found myself speaking of her as one of the teachers that I missed and had fond memories of her class. I am very thankful to have had her in life and appreciate her being one of the many chosen in life that helped mold the man and have an impact on my life by doing something that I never took time to think of when I was a young boy back then.
I express the deepest sympathies to all of Mrs. Mitchell's many family members and friends and the many people lives that she touched, including my own.
A much descriptive and sincere of simply saying "She was more than cool with me.".
Rest in peace, Mrs. Mitchell.
Peace.

Hi John B, Gena, and John Rex. Your Mom and I have been friends for over 45 years. We shared many joyful and silly experiences such as getting lost in the Loop in Chicago. We could not find north from south. Another, going to the wrong restaurant, after being let out right in front. Gena and John Rex, your Mom and I spent much time shopping before you two came along. We always had to find a steak place in the Loop for Gail. Your Mom was a no non-sense person and did not understand foolishness. She and I talked last Wed. night for about 1 1/2 hours. I kept telling her to hang up before she became winded, but she had a lot to tell me. I will truly miss my dear friend. Gena, she was concerned about you, but you'll be Ok. Holidays were special for Gail. She always had her own special way of celebrating. John B., Gena, and John Rex, we have all lost a very dear person. We'll see her again in the morning. Love to the three of you. I'm only a step away. Love ya and God Bless. Remember God does not make mistakes. Beverly McCormick aka Aunt Beverly

Dear Mitchell Family,
During your time of sorrow, may there be comfort in knowing friends are there and share in your sorrow. Praying God will give you peace of heart today. Gail and I attended Shortridge High School together. She was a joy to know and be with.

Hi Hers (we spoke in 3rd person sometimes). Hers, I am still trying to take in the reality that you have gone HOME- though I am missing you here. I now know what you mean when you would sigh and say, " I sure miss my mother....or wish I could talk to my mother today because she would get the joke and not daddy." Well. I was getting ready to text you this evening when I read the news about Dan Weldon from Indy Car racing. I also wanted to discuss some of the plays the Bears made during the Sunday night win over MIN. You also would have gotten my joke about IU's football team trying to make a 'comeback' during WIS game, 7 to 56 WIS. Dad did NOT get the joke.
You know you were touched by Gail Mitchell if:
-You use any words that are considered MENSA
-You knew that you were taking your hat off when you entered the house (lost art these days)
- you had to read The Good Earth
- you had to squint and just finally had to act like you knew what she wrote on a piece of paper (handwriting was jacked)
-you started doing crossword puzzles
-you started eating carrots sticks for lunch (this happened at Tolleston)
-Made you want to be a better you.
I will miss you my Lil Hersy.
Your daughter, Hers Jr.
P.S. Don't think I have forgotten when I went to camp one year, wrote you a letter and you responded--With red ink. Seriously, you corrected my letter and sent it back without answering any questions?
