Deacon James Lewis Davis, "Shorty", age 66 of Gary, IN, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Catherine Hospital in East,Chicago, IN. He attended school at Broad Street High School in Greenwood, MS. He served 3 years in Korea with th U.S. Army. He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Lissa Davis. He retired from U.S. Steel with 39 years of service (worked in 210 platemill). He loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esaw and Limmie Davis; 1 brother, Eugene Love and 1 niece, Linda Faye Love. He leaves to cherish his memories devoted wife, Lissa Davis; 6 children, Jacqueline Davis, Andre Robinson, Jeremy and Joslyn Jones, Rashad Wilson and J'ace Davis; 2 granddaughters, Dazhane Davis and Dijonea Jenkins; 7 sisters and 10 brothers, Lemon Pilcher, Isabella (Wanye) Carter, John Lee (Glenda) Slack, Irene Lundy, Peggy (Larry) Moore, JC Slack, all of San Antonio, TX, Lucy (Aaron) Oliver, Joseph (Dorothy) Slack, Albert Slack all of Mississippi, Darnell and John Henry Davis of Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Ora D. Gallaspy; godson, Emanuel Johnson; best friends, David Mitchell and Frank Robinson; host of other relatives and friends. Visitation, Thursday August, 27, 2009 at Powell-Coleman Funeral Home, 3200 W.15th Ave. Funeral, Friday, August 28, 2009 at St.Jude Deliverance Center, 4201 Broadway. Bishop Lois Hill officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park. Powell-Coleman Funeral Entrusted with Service.

To God Be The Glory....To Elder Davis & Family I was sadden to here about husband death I am prayng for you and your children. Just remember Jesus said, I am the resurrection nd the life: he that believeth in me, throgh he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
