Mrs. Williams was the best! She was one of a handful of parents that we knew REALLY cared about us all and showed it with the tough love we all needed in order to push ourselves and realize our full potentials. She attended the PTA meetings, sold tickets for the dance recitals, and cheered us on at the football games. In a community where it was so easy to follow the wrong path, Mrs. Williams was there to serve as a guiding light.

Among the many great memories I have of time spent with her, I remember when I would visit the house a day or two after a football game. I would walk in with my chest up and my head held high, proud of our team victory the past Friday and my role in helping achieve the win. Mr. and Mrs. Williams would ask me how I felt about the game and proceed to point out EVERYTHING I did wrong! It was incredibly humbling. Haha. Most importantly, it taught me to never settle for good and to always resolve to give my very best.

She taught us all so much about so many things that, while we may not have understood at the time, would become invaluable lessons for us to apply as young adults. She was such an amazing role model!

As I sit at my desk at the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, regretful that I will not be able to attend Mrs. Williams' service, I smile and thank her for all she did to help me earn this seat.

Mr. Williams, Rodney II, and Shannon: I love you all and appreciate you sharing her with us during her time on this earth.

On behalf of the Lobdell/Connell family, please accept our condolences and continued prayers during this difficult time.

God's strength for Tanya's family. She was such a warm-hearted person with a bubbly personality, always willing to help someone she THOUGHT was in need. It was that bubbly personality (and her ability to talk almost non-stop) that made me nickname her "Taz." I had great times with her as a colleague and friend. She will be truly missed by the many lives she blessed. Rest In Heaven Taz.

A GOOD SOROR

A good SOROR is proud of herself. She respects herself and others. She is aware of who she is. She neither seeks definition from the person she is with, nor does she expect them to read her mind. She is quite capable of articulating her needs.

A good SOROR is hopeful. She is strong enough to make all her dreams come true. She knows love, therefore she gives love. She recognizes that her love has great value and must be reciprocated. If her love is taken for granted, it soon disappears.

A good SOROR has a dash of inspiration, and a dabble of endurance. She knows that she will, at times, have to inspire others to reach the potential God gave them. A good SOROR knows her past, understands her present, and moves toward the future.

A good SOROR knows God. She knows that with God the world is her playground, but without God she will just be played. A good SOROR does not live in fear of the future because of her past. Instead, she understands that her life experiences are merely lessons, meant to bring her closer to self knowledge and unconditional self love. SOROR Smile...YOU KNOW YOU HAVE IT GOING ON! So Keep ON Keeping On.

LaTanya meant a lot of wonderful things, to a lot of people who knew her. She was also my cheerleading teammate at Male High School-- 1974 squad, whom I had great respect for; and even then, she was all about business with a big heart, and what she taught me, I taught others. May you rest in peace my sister-friend.
This life is but one step in a much greater journey! Love ya!

Mothers/Grandmothers are special and one of God's most greatest creation. No one can tell you how to feel or have the right words to soothe your pain. In times where you feel a void, remember that Mrs. Williams was a Woman of God and if she were here sitting next to you right now, she would want to you remember that even though we loved her, God loved her best. She would want us to find comfort and peace in knowing that where she is, there is no more pain. Finally, she would say.."I'm just fine, now get yourself together, I'm right here waiting on you :-)
God Bless with love Dianna Foster & Shaniah Williams
