Myron Heggedahl

Myron Oliver Heggedahl, 99, of Kenyon died at his daughter's home on Jan. 13, 2017. He was born on July 18, 1917, near Billings, Mont., to Louis and Amanda (Ellingboe) Heggedahl. After returning to Minnesota, he attended school in Nerstrand and a rural school southeast of Kenyon. Myron graduated from electrical school in Chicago, with a master's license. He worked for Rural Electric Association, in the Kenyon area; an electrical shop in Red Wing; defense work in Joliet, Ill.; for Fairbanks Morse and Company, in Beloit, Wis.; and with Ankeny Ordnance Plant, in Ankeny, Iowa.

He married Orine Sylvia Bakko on Jan. 6, 1951, at Gol Lutheran Church in Kenyon. They farmed together in Cherry Grove Township; in addition, Myron did electrical work for others around the area. In his retirement years, he worked for Goodhue County as a volunteer driver. He enjoyed his morning coffee meetings in Wanamingo and afternoon coffee meetings in Kenyon where he always stated he was "furthering his education."

Myron was preceded in death by his wife, Orine; his parents, Louis and Amanda Heggedahl; grandparents, Osten and Marit Heggedahl; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Art Wolkenhauer; brother and sister-in-law, Art and Marian Heggedahl; sister-in-law, Virginia Heggedahl; and sister, Eileen Heggedahl.

He is survived by son, Mark (June) Heggedahl; daughter, Susan (James) Miner; grandchildren, James (Michelle) Miner, Scott (Tracy) Miner, Jeremy (Stacy Froyum) Miner and Shane (Angie) Miner; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Mackenzie, Darryn, Brooke, Jonathan and Reid Miner, Chris Gilbertson, Kwazi Spencer and Victoria and Vincent Martinez; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Alice Heggedahl; brother, Allen Heggedahl; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Per Myron's wishes, his body was donated to Mayo Clinic, and a private family memorial will be planned at a later date.
