Age 64, of Sewickley and formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed unexpectedly on April 8, 2015. Preceded in death by his parents, Wayne J. Chamberlain and Elaine E. Chamberlain; sister, Catherine E. Colburn; and brother, Jeff A. Chamberlain. He is survived by his wife, Janet M. Ching- Chamberlain; beloved children, Andrea K. "Drea" Chamberlain, and Joshua L. Chamberlain, all of Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Robert and Janet met and were married in 1987 in Honolulu, Hawaii and moved to Sewickley in 1990 with their daughter, Drea. Robert graduated from Flushing High School in Michigan in 1969 and attended C.S. Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan, Honolulu Community College in Hawaii and the New York Institute of Finance in New York City. He received his Certified Financial Planner professional designation in 1981. He enlisted in the US Air Force in July 1970 and was assigned to Hickam AFB, Hawaii, where he worked as a communications center specialist. Robert received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant in April 1974. Robert worked in the financial services industry since 1976 and as a certified financial planner from 1981 in both Hawaii and Pennsylvania. He was named one of the best financial planners in the nation by Money Magazine in 1987 and was a featured speaker at financial advisor conferences nationwide as well as international conferences in Canada, Mexico, and Switzerland. Robert also hosted the television series, "Financial Fitness", produced by KHET TV, a PBS affiliate, in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the 1980s. The series was aired by PBS Television stations across the country. Robert authored three books on financial planning, including, "The Good Steward's Handbook". In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting pheasants, grouse, and ducks with his English Cocker Spaniels. Arrangements entrusted to the EDWARD P. KANAI FUNERAL HOME.
