Sr. ANTOINETTE, CDP
88 years of age, of McCandless Township, Sister Antoinette, formerly Sister Demaris, only child of Charles Basis and Antoinette (Anna) Jacobs went to her eternal reward on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born in Pittsburgh and entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1946 from SS. Peter & Paul Parish in the East Liberty area and made Final Vows on August 15, 1953. For many years, Sister Antoinette served as an Elementary teacher at schools in the Archdioceses of Boston and Detroit and the Diocese of Pittsburgh, serving the longest at St. Sylvester in Brentwood. Sister Antoinette received her Bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University and her Master's from the University of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by cousins and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Viewing will take place at Providence Heights on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. and on Monday, from noon until 3:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101. Burial will follow in Providence Heights Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sisters of Divine Providence, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101. So very thankful for Sister Antoinette being my first grade teacher. Always kind to us. Was able to see her on and off these past few years at church. Will miss her dearly, but she now has a place that Jesus has ready for her. She is now with my mom. May her soul rest in the peace of God with all of the angels and saints!!!!!!!
