Jason,
I just found and read this for the first time ever. Of course, I knew that your father had passed, for which I was deeply saddened for you as I had known of the deep love and respect you had for him. What an interesting life your father and family had. This reads like a wonderful, warm and fascinating book! He was definitely larger than life and I see why you were so connected to him, not just as a father. Such a tragedy that he was taken way too soon by that hideous disease.
All these years later, my sincere condolences to you and yours.
Love, Jill

I'll always remember the day I visited Frank at the Paris office in early April, 1985, following Villanova's major upset of Georgetown in March Madness. Sports Illustrated told the story of that infamous game, and I brought that issue, hot off the press, to Frank. He was so excited. We talked the entire evening about the game and he was like a little kid in a candy store.
I had the pleasure of working with Frank for many years after that, and he was without a doubt one of my favorite senior executives at PPG. He was always willing to listen to his people and respected their ideas and recommendations. He never talked down to anyone and his customers loved him.
PPG lost one of its best when Frank took early retirement, and now, sadly, we all lose a wonderful and dear friend. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Archinaco family.

Dear Family Archinaco, dear mourners,
With a great shock, today I have taken the very sad news of the death of Frank Archinaco. Although I knew that Frank led a desperate battle against his severe suffering, I had not reckoned with the unexpected and much too early farewell. It is very sad when you are helpless, and watch a proud and dignified personality fight the desperate battle against his severe suffering.
My first encounter with Frank goes back to the year 1984, back to the beginning of his successful work as president and senior vice president of glass for PPG's operations in Europe. Then already built up trust and mutually pleasant and cooperative relations were the basis for our years long, fruitful relationship with PPG one hand, and Lenhardt Maschinenbau GmbH on the other.
The loss of a man, a good friend which I had personally appreciated very much, causes me great pain and sadness. As a person and personality, he was always straightforward and frankly, you met him with respect and deference. For all who knew him, he was by his good-natured and honest figure very popular and appreciated. Whenever our paths crossed, it was always a friendly and cordial meeting. I can hardly get used to it, that he no longer with us. Frank is a person lost, which can no longer be replaced.
The Biography of Frank I've taken from the publication of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. This describes Frank Archinaco, in his sincere, friendly and very pleasant manner, just as I did still remember him. Frank was a role model for entrepreneurial thinking and action. Understanding of his neighbor, and consideration for fellow human beings were with him always in the foreground. That, and not only his distinctive talent skillfully even difficult situations to handle, made him so appealing and valuable. I personally am proud that I was allowed to accompany him during his way of success.
Dear mourners, I can empathize how large and painful the loss for you all and his closest friends is. The time of leave-taking is always too early for everyone. The final farewell is always associated with great sorrow and grief. We participate in your pain and wish you strength and courage to the coming years so that you find back on the path to a fulfilling life.
We will keep Frank in honorable remembrance. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Karl and Marlen Lenhardt

Early in my carrer within the glass industry I had the real pleasure to work for and with Frank when he was the Genereal Manager & V. P. of PPG Ind., (PR,) Inc. He was indeed a gentleman, and an executive well liked by all his peers, his subalternates as well as all the vast customer base that PPG enjoyed during those years in Puerto Rico. He was a mentor and a friend. The Heavens have now another reason to rejoice with Frank being a participant in the heavenly activities. I'll see you soon Frank.

May God comfort you at this time. Your father was a great friend and colleague as we worked together at PPG. We had some excellent adventures together particularly in Italy. When we retired I missed our almost daily exchanges as we supported one another and I shall forever miss his humour and positive outlet now.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Archinaco family. While our 20-year relationship was mostly a business one, I always enjoyed chatting with Frank whenever he (and the family) was here on Hilton Head, or whenever he called. He was, indeed, "one of the good guys", and he will be missed - but not forgotten.

Jason, Paula, Chris, and Peggy, so sorry for your loss. Frank was a beautiful, caring, person. He loved you all so very much and never have I known a father more proud of his children. He will be missed but never forgotten. I feel blessed for the time we shared. I pray for your strength and the knowledge that he is in a far better place...probably stirring up some risotto or seven hour sauce. Hugs!

I was very much saddened to read that Frank has passed from this life. I met him and got to know him well during my 28 year career at PPG. Being of Italian descent myself, I related to him on all levels. His lack of self-importance, his sense of humor, his big smile and, above all, his sense of caring about the average employee made him stand out in the Executive ranks. There were none other like him. When he retired, I truly felt a sense of loss, but was happy for him because, clearly, he was happy. I'm sure he is resting in Paradise now, with that big smile on his face.
Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. As time passes, I am sure the cold edge of loss will be replaced by the warm memories of a truly nice man loved by many.
