MAHAVEN JACK A.
Age 69, of New Castle, PA, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015. He was born in Pittsburgh on February 12, 1946, to John J. and Catherine Rider Mahaven. Jack was a 1964 graduate of South Hills High School. He served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968. Jack graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1970 and served as a State Trooper until his retirement in 1992. He married the former Darlene M. Scotti on April 11, 1970, and she survives him at home. Surviving also are his mother, Catherine Mahaven of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Heather L. Mahaven; and his granddaughter, Mikayla C. Law, both of New Castle; his sister, Lynette (Ronald) Crimone of Pittsburgh; along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Robert and Donald Mahaven. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Rd., New Castle, PA 16101 or the New Castle Area Honor Guard, 134 N. Jefferson St., New Castle, PA 16101. I knew Jack since we were kids. The Mahavens were our neighbors.A good guy from a good family. The last I saw him was about five years ago. I was back home when my mom's funeral. We talked about old times and it was great to see him. My deepest condolences to his wife daughter, mother and sister.

I was a friend of Jack and Bobby Growing up as a teen on Mt. Washington. What a great guy he was. My condolences to Darlene, who I also knew, and his daughter as well as Lynette and Ron Crimone. My heart is heavy because of the passing of a great guy. Rest in peace my friend.
