John was a good friend and a damn good person. I came to know him thru a friend of mine Dan Miller who used to own the Grant Street Saloon in downtown Pgh. John would always put out a big spread for the guys to come in and watch the ARMY vs NAVY game at the Inn Termission for free. John always had a smile on his face every Saturday afternoon when the bands would play. He always had something good to say. I will always cherish my friendship with him and remember those good days never a dark cloud. Slante Johnny !

Uncle John.....I will miss you!! I will never forget all the family times we spent together! Three things that will never ever leave me: l) You stiched my leg up when you lived on Edmond Street..you did a "fantastic" job on that by the way :0) and 2) When you took me and Pammy (Aunt Ann was with us too, i think)through the cemetary one night around Halloween and "creeped us out" and 3) When you me and mommy (Emma) sat in your car and you had a "toilet" in the back seat..we laughed and laughed about that!! I always "LOVED" being with you Uncle John....I thought it was so cool to have a uncle that was a policeman!!! I will truely miss you... but I am sure we will meet up again..so make sure to wait on me at the gate!! Dee Dee

No question about it, John was a Pittsburgh Original. They stopped making guys like him. Lots of adjectives can describe him, but his biggest asset was his heart. He looked tough but he was a softie and lots of people came to him for help. God Bless him, he didnt have it in him to say no. I am sure God has a place in heaven for him but we sure will miss him down here. My sincere condolences to his family.
