CHARLES A.
Age 73, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006. He was born April 17, 1933. Son of the late Charles and Bernice Lewis. He was raised in the Hill District and was formerly married to Julia Lee. From this union, 5 children were born, Gerald, Charles, Leslie, Damon and Troy. He is also survived by a son, Donald Reese and daughter, Felicia Garth. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-55 and fought in the Korean War where he received two medals. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1991, where he was Food Service Sgt. 1st Class. He retired from the State of NV Dept. of Prisons and Corrections. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Lewis. He is survived by one sister, Janet Snowden of TN; one sister-in-law, Jessie Lewis, son-in-law, Robert Pollard; daughter-in-law, Mary and good friend, Manella Hunter, formerly of Pittsburgh; also 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at 7pm in the SAMUEL J. JONES FUNERAL HOME, 2644 Wylie Ave., Hill District.
