Cathy Rutledge Obituary

Cathy Marie Rutledge, 62, of Idaho Falls, peacefully passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at her home with her family at her side, following an unexpected illness.

Cathy was born Sept. 12, 1949, in St. Paul, Neb., to the late Charles J. Trubl and Mary Ann (Jonak) Trubl. When Cathy was 7 years old, the family of five decided to move to Idaho Falls. The family later moved to a farm south of Roberts, Idaho. Cathy attended Holy Rosary Elementary School, Roberts High School and graduated from Rigby High School. Cathy went on to receive her license for cosmetology and was a certified nurse's assistant.

Cathy was married and later divorced. She has two children, Johnny Rutledge and Jodie Rutledge.

Cathy and her mother were constant companions through the years, doing embroidery projects and participating in numerous craft shows in Idaho Falls and the surrounding towns. She especially enjoyed when they would head to Montana to stay at the cabin. For the last 15 years, Cathy, Mary Ann and Pam would finish the summer by attending the craft show and street fair in Hamilton, Mont., for Apple Days. Cathy loved embroidery, loved her family, pets and flowers, but most of all, her true passion was her poetry. At the time of her passing, she had composed over 100 poems.

Cathy was a strong believer in God and an active member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Rutledge; and daughter, Jodie Rutledge, both of Idaho Falls; and six grandchildren, Johnathon, Jacob, Katelynn, Jimmy, Hope and Jasmin. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Ann (Jonak) Trubl of Idaho Falls; brother, Jerry (Jan White) Trubl of Idaho Falls; her sister, Pam (Trubl) Wilde and Pam's husband Scott Wilde of Idaho Falls; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, on the corner of Ninth Street and Lee Avenue in Idaho Falls, with Father Jairo Restrepo, celebrant. Burial will follow in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls. A rosary for family and friends will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, with a viewing following from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be given to a charity of choice.

Aunt Mary Ann and Family,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of one of our earthly angels. Cathy was a ray of sunshine and smiles every time I saw her. She always had a hug and a how are you. Those were not just words to her either. She truly wanted to know how we were. Her compassion and kindness were expressed through her eyes and loving hugs. I am deeply sorry for the grief and sadness you are feeling and pray that God's loving arms will encircle you and hold you close during this difficult time. Cathy will be missed by many including our family. All our love to you and may God bless you all.

Cathy,
Words can't express the sadness in my heart. I will miss you, my cousin, with all my heart. You had a quietness of strength about you that anyone in your presence could feel. I will forever remember the greatest gift that you gave me: my very first perm! I was so excited. I was so happy that you said: "Yes!" You will be missed so much by our family. Love you.
