Mattison, Theresa (Tess) Gaetano

Sonoma, CA: Theresa (Tess) Gaetano Mattison passed away peacefully on November 8, 2012, in Sonoma, CA, surrounded by her loving family. A longtime resident of Owego, NY, Theresa was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 6, 1924 to Louise and Anthony Gaetano. She is survived by her brother, Francis Gaetano (Adeline) of Amsterdam; and sister, Yolanda Crodelle, of Poughkeepsie; and was predeceased by three sisters, Vienna Morini, Antoinette Lanzi and Maryann Kilinski; and one brother, Ralph Gaetano Sr. She worked at General Electric in Schenectady and Ellis Edson Beaudry Barrett & Chubb in Owego and was a full-time homemaker. She never missed an opportunity to send a thank you or birthday card. Theresa greatly enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and many friends. She loved baking and sharing her cookies, pies and cakes with others, and always had a smile and a recipe to share. She will be remembered for her engaging sense of humor. We will miss her "hi hi" when she answered our telephone calls and her advice to misbehave. She will be forever missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Fred Mattison; her four children, Barbara Morse, Janice Mattison (Alan Durfee), Fred Mattison Jr. and James Mattison; her four grandchildren, Danielle Mattison, Catherine Mattison, Fred Mattison III (Melody Mattison) and Pearl Batten (Tom Batten); her two great-grandchildren, Fred IV and Rebecca Mattison; and many nieces and nephews. She and Fred spent the last 20 years wintering in North Fort Myers, FL and made many dear friends there. Theresa was a member of the Rosary Society and Saint Patrick's Church in Owego, NY. A Memorial Mass will be said in Owego, NY at St. Patrick's Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17th. A gathering at the church will follow.
