My friend John. I knew when I was 5 years old and friends ever since.
We played football, hunted, fished together. John was a great river fisherman. We fished and camped in the Adirondack and Canada. Became interested in archery. John made our bows, arrows and even fletched our feathers.
Every year we hunted, slept and ate at his place. If I needed anything fixed he was always there.
John was best man at our wedding, 60 years ago. Myself son Tom and grandson Derek visited John in February of this year. He came from one of the best families I have ever known.
We will all miss him. Louis Petertyl and family.

In fields & forests, in rivers & oceans, you & I hunted & fished. In the spring we planted, in the winter we cut wood. You designed my house & built some of the furniture in it. You've made me a better man because of it. You've been like a second father to me & also to my son. We love you John & some day we will hunt again.... I know that you'll be with us this coming hunting season when we get another trophy buck. Thank you for all that you've done for us. You will be greatly missed & have given us many great memories.
With much love & appreciation,
Tom, Nancy & Derek Petertyl

I have many childhood memories of John. My Dad, Walt Fowler, worked with John at Link. Dad used to take us over to John's home on Ouquaga Road and he always made us hot chocolate. It was delicious! We loved to explore his house and land. I remember one time he had just harvested his pumpkins and the entire downstairs room was full of pumpkins! My Dad passed away in 2003 and John came to the funeral. He sat in the front of the church with the family. He truly was part of our family. God Bless!

It was with great sadness to hear of Johns passing. We were Johns neighbors on Seward Rd. for 37 years, and a finer neighbor you'll never find. I missed the sound of his evening gunshots while he was trying new loads for his 7mm x 54R or sighting in his muzzle loader. About 30 years ago I remember when he shot the biggest doe I'd ever seen and dragged it out of the woods right next to my house. (with the muzzle loader no less). I haven't seen one like it to this day.
God bless you and rest in peace John, you were a good neighbor and are truly missed.

I had the opportunity to work with John at Link. He was without a doubt an engineer's engineer.
With my deepest sympathy,
