Charles Tubbert Obituary

Tubbert, Charles F.

Charles F. Tubbert passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on July 14, 2015, after a brief illness. He was born in Auburn, NY, where, at a young age he exhibited a natural talent and fascination with mechanics. In high school he was a quiet student and loyal friend; he was also the drummer in a rock band until he took an after-school job working with an automotive mechanic. He could repair almost anything. Over the years, he built many engines for race cars and speedboats for friends and himself in his spare time. He enjoyed teaching others the skills that came so effortlessly to him. His father died when he was 10, and he never forgot the kindness shown to him by neighbors and friends' fathers as he grew up; throughout his life he followed their example of kindness to others. No one ever entered his home who wasn't enthusiastically welcomed. He was a generous, kind man always ready for a laugh or to help. As a Navy airman, Chuck excelled in "A" School avionics classes and went on to enjoy a long career in design, development, testing and management of complex flight and ground simulation equipment. He managed military, commercial and space flight programs with the US Navy, US Army and NASA during his years with Singer-Link and Lockheed Martin. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Agnes Tubbert, and his only brother, Timothy Tubbert. Chuck is survived by his wife, Marjorie Patrick Tubbert; sons, Michael (Dawn Proctor) of Endicott and Todd (Kristina) of Wadsworth, Ohio; grandchildren, Zachary and Paisley; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; his "adopted" Campbell clan; and his work families at Singer-Link and Lockheed Martin. A funeral mass will be offered Monday, July 20, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be at a later date. Family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Chuck's memory to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, 705 West Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760; or Epilepsy-Pralid, Inc. (for research), 2 Townline Circle,

Rochester, NY 14613.

I worked with Chuck on and off for several years and he was always a pleasure to work with. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face when I passed him in the hallway. I didn't know him well but I will miss him.

Dear Marge, To paraphrase the Bible, There are three things that endure: Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of these is Love. I pray with you this: "The Light of God surrounds you, Love of God enfolds you, the Power of God protects you, the Presence of God watches over you. Wherever you are God is there and all is well."
Peace to you and with you, my friend,
Alayne
