Betty (Badooch) (Pompetti) Montone, 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at her home. She was predeceased by her parents, Gabriel and Mary Pompetti; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and George Slavik; and brother, Gabriel Pompetti Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Montone, Binghamton; devoted daughter, Maria A. Montone-Mathis, Binghamton; three grandchildren, David Mathis Jr. and fiancee, Meredith Little, Chenango Bridge, Gina and Carter Clapham, Fayetteville, N.C., Mark Mathis and Karissa Barlow, Binghamton; a great-granddaughter who was the light of her life, Hunter Maria Clapham, Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Adam Lombardini, Kirkwood, Carol and Joe D'Esti, Johnson City; sisters-in-law, Joan Pompetti, Binghamton, Helen Solomon, Binghamton, Rose Ann Dellapenna, Johnson City, and Santina Montone, Binghamton; also brother-in-law, Sam Romano, Johnson City; also many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Edith Bealo, Binghamton, and many other special friends. Betty was a retired employee of Singer-Link with 40 years of service. She was also a member of the Women's Abruzzese Club and St. Mary of the Assumption Church and its Golden Age Club.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 2, 2007, at 8:45 a.m. at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, N.Y., and continue at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Please consider memorial contributions in Betty's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, or to the American Diabetes Association, 356 N. Midler Ave., Syracuse, N.Y. 13206. The ladies of the Abruzzese Club will meet Sunday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
