Charlene Lasky Obituary

Charlene (Simeck) Lasky

Erie - Charlene (Simeck) Lasky, born August 19, 1922 in Erie, PA daughter of the late John and Helen Simeck, passed away on February 2, 2021, 98 years young.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William Lasky; son-in-law Jim Heatherman; and siblings: Raymond (Lena) Simeck, James (Josie) Simeck, Joseph (Anita) Simeck, and sister Joanne (Tony) Ruffo. Also, sisters-in-law, Anna Lasky, Katherine (Jim) Connolly, Helen (Mike) Groyza, Mary Wyatt; brothers-in-law; John (Ann) Lasky, Joseph (Mary) Lasky and Steven Lasky.

She is survived by her children: Raymond (Saundra) Lasky, Joyce Heatherman, William Lasky and Thomas (Terri) Lasky, grandchildren: Raymond Lasky Jr., Teresa Heatherman, Dan Heatherman, Nicholas Lasky, Sara Lasky, great grandchildren: Madison Heatherman, Lucian and Logan Lasky and nieces and nephews. Also surviving are step grandchildren: Erika Mikulski, Kerri (Dave) Hashey, and step great grandchildren: Alexis, Tessa, David, Ryan, and Robbie.

Mom always was a hard worker from babysitting jobs at a young age to a part-time waitressing in high school to her full-time position at Link Aviation (Rosie the Riveter) until her marriage in 1942. After their time on the West Coast, when Dad was in the Army, while raising a family she returned to assorted part-time jobs, including her own business selling Square Dance clothing to full-time employment and after many years, retirement from General Electric in Westover. She was a lifelong member of SS Cyril and Method Church, active volunteer and member of the Altar Rosary making rosaries that were donated to local hospitals.

She lived life, loved flowers, cooking, baking, travelling and family. There was always a candy dish in the living room and coffee and a baked treat in the kitchen. She will be missed by many.

A Funeral Mass will be offered by Msgr. John P. Putano on Monday at 9:30 am at SS Cyril and Method Church, 148 Clinton Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends Monday 8:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the spring at Slovak Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributing to SS Cyril and Method Church in her memory.
