Nicholas Kocur (Papa Huck) passed away in his sleep on September 12, 2008 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, of 55 years; daughter, Kathleen and her fiancé, Louis Fiore; and his sons, Josh and Ben. Nick is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jo Ann Kocur, N.C.; granddaughters, Gabrielle Kocur and Madison Fiore; his sister, Ann Kocur, Yonkers; and a niece and nephew; his in-laws, the McQuade's, who gave so much love and support; Dr. Arjun and Mardula Patel, family friends, for many years; his buddies from Romas, all of the caring neighbors, and his poker buddies (he always said he was a winner.) Nick served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany and a graduate of Alfred University. Nick worked for IBM for 30 years many of those years on the space shuttle. Papa Huck loved music and taught his granddaughters to dance the Huckabuck, that's how he got the name Papa Huck and to his family "Top Shelf". Nick was so proud of his family and his love for them will remain in our hearts forever. A very special thank you to Dr. Arjun Patel and the Lourdes Hospice Program.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, on Monday from 4-7 with a brief memorial service at 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CHOW in care of Ed Blaine, 3 Otsiningo Street, Binghamton, 13903.
