Richard Holly Obituary

Richard M. Holly
of Endicott
On September 18, 2008, Richard M. Holly, 61, the love of Linda's life, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, after a long, courageous 3-year battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife, Linda, who will be forever grateful for the 15 wonderful years they were able to share; sister, Judy Siegelman; brother, Chuck (Teisha) Holly; brother-in-law, Brad (Adele) Jones, all of Maryland; nieces and nephews, Holly and Mike, Mark and Samantha, Bryan, Kevin, Victoria and Brandon; also the lights of his life, great-niece and nephew, Morgan and Leland. Richard graduated from U-E High School and served with the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends over a good meal accompanied by a good bottle of wine. He rooted for the Yankees, Giants, Notre Dame and Syracuse, but his favorite sport to watch was golf. His favorite spot was his chair on the front porch, where he could watch the birds and greet his neighbors and anyone else who might pass by. He was a lifelong member of the Central United Methodist Church, where he was a teacher and mentor for the confirmation class and also taught adult Sunday school.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the Central United Methodist Church. The Rev. Douglas Clark, Pastor of the church, will officiate. The Rev. Kenneth Wood, former Pastor, The Rev. Thomas Hester, a good friend, and Jan Clark will participate. The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the church. Linda and his family will be forever grateful to Dr. Seruzel Khan and all his "family" at Broome Oncology for all their loving care given to Dick and Linda the past 3 years. The family would also like to thank Chaplain Betty Pomeroy and the staff of Wilson ICU for their kind support and gentle care. Most of all, we want to thank all of our church family and friends who unselfishly shared their support and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Central United Methodist Church, 17 Nanticoke Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760, or to the Leukemia - Lymphoma Society, 401 North Salina St., Suite 304, Syracuse, N.Y. 13023.

Dear Linda,

I was so saddened when I read about Dick in the newspaper. When we worked together and you would talk about Dick, your face would light up; it was so apparent that you found true love and were so very happy.
As the days and weeks pass, and you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
With deepest sympathy,

Ray Pastrick

Dearest Linda and family - I am so sorry that Dick had to leave you so soon. He was a fine, strong young man who was always ready with a radiant smile. I remember when I first met him, he spoke as if he had known me forever...that's how outgoing he always was. I'll always remember him for that. My prayers and thoughts are with you. May the peace of God carry you through this time of sorrow and loss.

Dear Linda, How sorry I am about Dick's passing. I remember how happy you were when you told me that the 2 of you had recently married, and you were still happy when I saw you much later. You have often been in my thoughts because we were friends, and I too married later in life. You have always deserved joy and I am glad that you found it for 15 years and wish it had been more.
