My deepest sympathies to each of you. May God's love and the kindness of friends and neighbors sustain you through this difficult time and the days ahead. I have many fond memories of time spent at your home in Greene when I was a child. Roger was always happy to have a conversation and I will never forget his smile.
I miss having you all nearby and wish you were here so I could give you some hugs. Please know I am holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Much love,

Karen, I am sorry for your loss. Roger was a good man and he will be missed by many. My memories of Roger will always be happy. He stood up for me on my wedding day and was present when my children were born. He was a man who gave freely of himself and I was one of those lucky enough to call him a friend. You are in our prayers.
Roger I expect you are running flyer marks with Centaur, Dream and Lil Man, hope you get a ribbon! Save me a seat at the pig roast. Miss you, Jim

My condolences to the Lewis' family. Dr. Lewis was always so kind and gentle with animals. Whenever we had a situation with our horses, he always came right away and always stepped right up to them, never afraid. Haven't found a vet yet that can take his place. My deepest sympathy.

To Doc Lewis's family,
It's been many years, we didn't know where Doc retired to. We are very saddened now to hear of his passing. We always, always enjoyed visiting with him whether it was at his animal hospital or at our mini farm. He was just the greatest Vet we've ever met and we greatly missed him after he retired. So many incidents where he rescued our animal's but two we fondly remember...we had 3 wandering ducks until they got too close to the road. The lone survivor had a broken leg...Doc said bring her on over, he wanted to 'see if he could fix a ducks leg'...a tiny cast and weeks of misting her in her stall, she was good as new! My young stallion caught his ear on a barb, piercing a vein, I panicked, got Doc out of bed at 5am and he 'calmly' said 'he was on his way'! He also took time out to talk with our 4H dtr when she was working on presentations about qtr horses & thinking about becoming a vet. Once at our farm I asked him why he became a vet...he said he loved science! We miss you, 'Doc'. R.I.P.
Our deepest sympathies to the famiy.

Dear Karen, Jeff, Jennifer, and Heather,
Roger was a wonderful, caring, compassionate veterinarian and human being. We have heartwarming memories of his love of animals and dedication to his profession when one of our cats, Mittens, suffered a badly damaged jaw after being hit by a car. Mittens became the "office cat" because Roger would not send him home until he could eat on his own. In his words," I am determined to make that cat's jaw work!" And he did. Mittens lived a long and happy life thanks to Roger's dedicated care.
Another fond memory involved a nest of abandoned field mice that our kids found and begged us to save. We called Roger for feeding advice, and within half an hour he responded with a recipe for "mouse milk," a recipe I have saved to this day!
Roger was truly Greene's James Herriot. We will never forget him. Our deepest sympathy on your loss.
Love and prayers to you all. We miss you.
