I was so sorry to hear about Gary. He was such a great guy and would do anything for you. Maryann, I'll never forget our trips to Ho Jo's on Friday nights. I still laugh about it. I know it will be a difficult time for all of you, but the fond memories will keep you going. I will keep you in my prayers. Take care of one another.

I was 16 years old when I landed my first job at Montgomery Ward and I had the pleasure of working with Gary. In fact, the work atmosphere was so much more enjoyable when Gary was around. He was fun and funny and good-hearted. Now 30 years later, I just happened to come across the misfortune of seeing his obituary. Just wanted you to know I am saddened for your loss, but I am sure that Heaven is rejoicing in welcoming Gary back home.
In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. --Book of John 14:2

I'am very sorry for your loss of Gary. We worked together for the City during our last two years there. We had many discussions on sports especially the Yankees and Horse Racing in Saratoga. He was fun to talk to and always made me laugh. He will surely be missed. Go North Indians

I first met Gary on the basketball court when we tried out for the JV basketball team at North High in 1965. We became good friends during that season. You always knew where you stood with Gary. There was nothing fake about him. He was a true competitor. Years later after not seeing him for some time, we ran into each other at a high school basketball game and it was as if we never parted ways. He was such a genuine human being. My deepest sympathy go out to his family and friends but just know that the world was a better place because of Bogie's 60 years of being part of it. I hope there is basketball in heaven.

We are so sorry to hear about Gary's passing. Gary was a great neighbor. Jeff loved standing at the fence and talking with him. Both Kaira and Will loved Gary (we think Kaira would rather have lived with him) and we both thank him so much for the kindness he showed our animals and us. We both truly admire his bravery in the face of illness. We will certainly never forget him.

Andre, We were very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I do not know of anyone that enjoyed watching basketball like your father did. Take comfort in your memories. Our deepest condolences. Brian, Therese, Michelle, Colin and Maddie Staiger

I remember when Katrina and I came out to New York to visit right after our marriage in '78. Gary's younger brother Dave was my best friend (still is) but it was Gary who took Trina and I fishing to one of his secret spots Between the three of us, we caught over twenty brook trout. Gary offered to clean all of them. By the time he was closing in on number eighteen, he had had enough, but he never gave up, just made a joke about not thinking through on his offer. I wouldn't mind fishing with him again in the sweet hereafter, especially if that previous offer still stands.

My thoughts and prayers are with Gary's family at this time.

I did have the privilege to work with Gary at the City of Binghamton. Gary was a consummate professional who always put the City of Binghamton's interest first. As a young lawyer, I learned much about municipal contracting and municipal contract law from him. Over the years I learned to value his always well reasoned perspective on complex issues.

His unique blend of intelligence, humor and frankness will be missed.

With all my sympathy,

I had the privilege of working with Gary for nearly ten years at the City and he was always a joy to work with and talk to. He always had a story, ususally about turkeys, deer, his son or some combination of all of those. His smiling face and dedication have been and will be missed in City Hall. And so my thoughts and prayers will be with your family.

What a blessed legacy Gary has left his family and friends. I worked with Gary very early in his career, and he did my heart sooo good. There was always a laugh
or even an honest to goodness "guffaw".
Never met anyone quite like him for the rest of my career.
My prayers go out to the whole family and thanks for this wonderful loving man
who I only knew as a very young man.

I'd like to say first I am sorry for your lose. I have known Gary for 37 years and in that time he went from being a customer to being a very good friend. We would always talk about family and hunting. He was a very loving husband and father and we had many laughts at Tom's and Craig's expense. There was also many stories about Andrea's softball over the years. Gary was a very caring person and always thinking of others. Although he may be gone, he will be in our memories forever. I am very proud to call him my friend.

Missing my brother

David Bogart

January 20, 2011

Gary,
I guess my favorite story concerns Harold our lifelong barber. Gary continued to get his haircut even as it was falling out. During one of his last visits Harold gave him a free haircut coupon, Gary said "what's this, you have free coupons? I have been coming here for 30 years and now that my hair is falling out you give me a free coupon?" He made it a point to tell all who were waiting to get their haircut that Harold had free coupons and told Harold that before he turned it in he was going to make copies!

I stopped to see Harold today to let him know that Gary had passed, he said he knew, he saw the paper he told me "he was very sorry" as a tear came down his face. Shaking his hand i told him it's ok Harold, he loved you man!!

Well Gary, I will miss your wit, your smile as you carried in our morning coffee on most days. I will never forget you my brother.
I love you, Dave

Gary was an exceptional individual who played a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of Binghamton city government.
He was a man of integrity who was liked and respected by all of his co-workers. His reitrement left a void that is impossible to fill. Gary truly exemplified the best of public service. During my 12 years as Mayor I often relied on Gary for his advice and expertise. I respected him and considered him an invaluable member of our team. He will be greatly missed by all of us who had the good fortune to know him.

Maryann, Andrea, Tom and Craig. Gary was a great neighbor and a good friend. I'm going to miss seeing him sitting on the porch this summer. I'll also miss talking to him and getting a laugh from the stories he told. He was so brave going through this, and no matter how much pain he was in, he was always positive and upbeat and kept on going and going! He never let his pain be an excuse not to do something with someone, or to go where he was invited. He never gave up! It truly makes me sad that he left so soon. He will be greatly missed. My prayers for comfort and peace at this time are with you all.

I have such great memories of Gary that I will treasure always. After he retired from the City, all the laughs disappeared. He always played great practical jokes that made us laugh, sometimes for weeks. I had a wonderful chat with Gary just before Christmas and was able to say goodbye to a great friend. I will pray for him and for all of you. Remember how much he loved all of you and that you now have a strong angel watching from above. In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
