Jack Keough Obituary
Endicott: Jack blazed a final trail of glory as he stepped off this earthly pad on April 4, 2011from his beloved home in Endicott NY. Living life with nothing less than the late night, toe-tapping, spirit sipping exuberance of the Milky Way, his presence will be sorely missed. Jack's earth bound family now bears the mantle of bravery as his spiritual family embraces his recycle. Born John Edward Keough on December 16, 1930, Jack was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Lucy Garcia y Vera, his parents, Raymond and Marion (Egan), and his sister, Rosemary. Jack is survived by his brother, Dick (Mary) Keough, Syracuse NY, two sisters: Joan Recchia, Blodgett Mills NY, and Eileen (Art) Barrett, Henrietta NY; 3 sons: Jack (Pam), Clarence NY, Joe (Mary), Endicott NY, Jim (Amy), Endicott NY; 3 daughters: Mary (Jim) Buszuwski, Silver Spring MD, Teresa (Bill) Hanrahan, Endwell NY, and Paula (Scott) Russell, Endicott NY. Jack happily partook in the lives of 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He shared a deeply loving relationship with Eunice Danvers for 13 years. He also left behind several cousins, nephews and nieces. He could boast the true friendship of his breakfast buddies, Al & Tom. Jack graduated from Binghamton HS and Harpur College. He served 3 years in the Air Force during the Korean War, and after his honorable discharge, he joined IBM as a Financial Analyst and became a member of the quarter-century club. Retirement gave Jack the rare opportunity to travel the world as a member of the International Executive Service Corp where he would go to developing countries and assist in new business start ups. Jack was actively involved in SCORE, Probe, the Sierra club and the Triple Cities Ski and Canoe clubs. He shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends and would never miss an opportunity to hike, canoe and camp in the Adirondacks or cross country ski the many trails throughout New York. He was a solid and generous man who enjoyed his life, always got the joke, loved to dance and enjoyed spirited discussions in politics. Mostly, Jack wanted to leave this world a better place for his family and humanity. The family will receive friends at the Elks Club, 619 N. Nanticoke Avenue, Endicott, NY on Saturday, April 9th from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM followed by a luncheon in celebration of his life. Expressions of sympathy are kindly accepted in Jack's honor to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (phassociation.org) or research for pancreatic cancer to Ralph H. Hruban, M.D., Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, 401 North Broadway, Weinberg 2242, Baltimore, MD 21231-2410.

Jimmy, I am sad for you and your family. Your dad was a beloved and loving man. He and Al did so much for the ski club, and is held in high esteem. He and your mom were incomparable examples of family love. I am thinking of you.

I was saddened to hear of Jack's death. We were in Boston babysitting during that time and Stanley told us when we returned home last week. Jack certainly added to our extended family. We will all miss him. All our love Dick & Sally Masters

We just got back from Disney World, and were really saddened to hear of the passing of your father. We would have been there had we been in town.
Jack(Drac) was a great guy(especially to deal with our high school shenanigans), and I know you guys will miss him very much. Please let us know if you need anything, or if there is anything we can do. Talk to you soon.

We just found out about the passing of your dad. We are in Florida for the winter. We are very sorry for your loss and hope the precious memories will sustain you during moments of sadness. I am so glad I got to spend time with Jack. In just the little time I got to spend with Jack we had alot of laughs. Jack is the type of person that made my job so easy to do. I looked forward every week to see him. I will miss sharing stories with him, he always looked forward to my stories and then he would tell me one back. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. This writeup of Jack really captures so much about how he lived his life. To his family, I am there with you in love and spirit. Jack was such a great, fun, funny, smart, witty, and kind man. His kids and grandkids are a testiment to the kind of man he was. To me he was a special friend with whom I always looked forward to our conversations. Like Jimmy said "see you on the other side."

To all of whom my father knew and those that know our family, I would like to thank you for your warm and caring thoughts. He was a great dad, full of life regardless the conditions that surrounded him. He did indeed live a fulfilling and enjoyable life which touched many people. As for myself and my siblings we were especially lucky to have him for our father. Parenting is definitely not an easy experience for anyone including my parents, however they raised us to be generous, empathetic, and above all else, appreciative for what we have. I will miss him and I know he's celebrating his return home. Enjoy Pops, we'll cya on the other side.

My Uncle Jack. Fell in love with my Aunt Lucy at an IBM picnic at first sight. Asked my dad for her hand over a rum and coke by gushing 'I Love Lucy' after half an hour of beating around the bush. A month after they met. He jumped on a plane in October and flew down to Cuba, they were married immediately. He didnt speak Spanish. She spoke some English. Six kids later he was happy as a man could be. When my aunt died unexpectedly after a brief illness he came to visit. I will never forget that i had to drive by myself to Disney two hundred miles away with two babies and he drove me and my brother CJ followed in a car. He then turned around and drove back. He was like that. Going out of his way to help others. My uncle. I was proud to behis niece. He will be missed. I can only join my cousins first and second. Or like they say in spanish...primohermanos...first cousins are cousinbrothers...

On Saturday, April 2nd, I was by my Grandpa's side for the last time in this lifetime and it was a beautiful sunny, blue-skied day. He left us in the first thunder rumbles of spring and angels wept tears of joy for the great man that had just arrived. Back when I was in high school he would pick me up after practices and we would always meet by the green dumpster outside of the locker rooms and he'd double-check, "I'll meet ya by the dumpster!" And for years we would always joke about our meeting place. He had a wonderful perspective on life and was always looking towards the positive. I aspire to live my life carrying out the same outlook and when it's my turn to venture out to the great beyond I won't wonder where to find him. I'll meet ya by the dumpster in the sky, Grandpa! I love you so much and miss you already.

Jim, Amy and the rest of the Keough family, We are so sorry for your loss. I was the Receptionist at the Binghamton PROBE office toward the end of the time he served on the Board of Directors. I always looked forward to seeing him attend the monthly meetings, and also seeing him attend the events of his grandchildren. He was a truly wonderful gentleman and will be sorely missed. What a wonderful testament of Jack's life. I will miss him very much - his life is an inspiration. An example of living life fully through every part of the journey.
