Joseph H. Kolodzey

MINEVILLE, N.Y. — Joseph H. Kolodzey, 56, of Mineville, N.Y., died unexpectedly Friday, April 17, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1952, the son of Charles and Margaret Kolodzey Sr.

He worked 29 years at D.O.T. as a maintenance worker. He worked at the D.E.C. from 1973 to 1979. He also worked at the 1980 Olympics. He retired in December 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; a daughter, Shannon Meachem, son-in-law, Josh Meachem; a son, David Kolodzey, daughter-in-law, Karla Kolodzey; two grandchildren, Ryleigh Kolodzey and Levi Kolodzey; his mother, Margaret Kolodzey of Moriah; a brother, Charles Kolodzey Jr., and wife, Pat of Port Henry; a brother, Tim Kolodzey of Port Henry; a sister, Susan Gray, and husband, Bill of Port Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Charles Kolodzey Sr., in 1981.

He had great interests in hunting and fishing, always having stories to tell of times spent in a hunting camp in Pepper Hollow. He always kept busy with numerous metal working, automotive, home improvements and other projects. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Friday, April 24, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. Burial will be on Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Moriah. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the Knights of Columbus in Port Henry.
