Rosetta Mingo Obituary

Ms. Rosetta Robinson Mingo was called home on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at the age of 64. She was the fourth of five children of Lucille Washington Robinson and Arthur Garfield Robinson. Born on Feb. 1, 1949, in Prince George, she attended schools throughout her childhood and adolescence beginning with Old Academy Elementary School, J.E.J Moore High School, and Prince George High School in Prince George. Her formal education earned her a Bachelor of Science degree in Business at Maryland University in 1982, she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She subsequently earned her Master of Science degree in Technology Management at Maryland University in 1995. She progressed in her 37 year career at the United States Postal Service Headquarters, Washington, until she retired in 2005.

Rosetta received Christ at an early age as a member of Harrison Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and served on the choir and usher board. When Rosetta relocated to Washington, and subsequently to Maryland, she continued her Christian work. While away from her home church, she attended Shiloh Baptist Church of Glenarden, Md., where she served on the usher board and joined, as a watch care member, Woodstream Church in Mitchellville, Md., on Aug. 5, 2012.

Rosetta leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Raphael H. Mingo, of Lanham, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Kim E. Austin; a granddaughter, Alana K. Abrams and a grandson, Brandon A. Mingo; parents, Lucille and Arthur Robinson, Hopewell; four sisters, Josephine Epps (Garland Epps) of Hopewell, Lucille Carter (the Rev. James Carter) of Hopewell, Audrey Sizer of Washington, and Mary Harris (Dr. D. Floyd Harris) of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends. Rosetta was a devoted mother, grandmother, loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.

Rosetta was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a faithful and dependable person who gave of herself freely. She was an advocate for education, and she was instrumental in educating the minds of others whom she mentored. She would help others in need and was generous with her time. She worked tirelessly in whatever endeavor she attempted.

Rosetta's good deeds and work will speak for her.

Services for Ms. Rosetta Robinson Mingo will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Harrison Grove Baptist Church, 10415 Merchants Hope Road, Hopewell, Prince George, the Rev. Calvin Lewis, pastor, eulogist. Interment to follow at the Robinson Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

To the family, our prayers are with you during this time of loss. But, remember that she is without pain and resting peacefully with the Master. Rosetta was one of those down-to-earth and rare ladies who cross our paths just ever so often. I don't think I've ever met a more graceful, honest, and caring person; and, we will miss her dearly.
