LANCASTER, SC – Mr. John Miles Hensley, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Born December 20, 1935, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John Mitchell Hensley and Ermin Jones Hensley.
He was the devoted husband of the late Mary Jean Hensley, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage.
John lived for more than 40 years in the Charlotte metropolitan area, including Concord and Monroe. While in Monroe, he proudly owned and operated a printing company, faithfully serving that community for many years.
John and Jean were longtime members of Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte, where they formed many cherished friendships. In later years, they returned to Lancaster and became active members of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church. There, John enjoyed singing in the choir and, together with Jean, built lasting friendships that brought them much joy and comfort.
He is survived by his son, Ron Hensley. Also, Scotty and Lynn Carnes, nephew Butch Hicks and wife Susan, all of whom were like children to him.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Jesse Adams, Rev. Jack Nunn, and Pastor Patrick Blackmon. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, 133 S. Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
