WEAVERVILLE – Charlie Ponto Hensley, Jr., age 87, of Weaverville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Mr. Hensley was born on October 12, 1937, in Buncombe County, son of the late Charlie P. Hensley, Sr. and Margaret Muse Hensley. Charlie lived in Atlanta, Georgia where he raised a family and worked in the wholesale paper business for 40 years. He retired and moved back to North Carolina in 2006.

He was the husband of the late Clara Wike Hensley, and was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Charles Hensley; and beloved grandson, Jerad LaBlanc.

Surviving is his daughter, Karen Gibson of Weaverville; sister, Susan Buckner (Larry); brother, Donald Hensley (Becky); grandson, Brody Gibson; and great grandchildren, Tyler and Alex LaBlanc and Spencer Massmann.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, with Rev. Nelson Ponder and Rev. Johnny Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville.
