JACOBS, ALBERT JORDAN
90, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away May 27, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Charlotte Sybil (Bander) Jacobs for 61 years. Albert and Charlotte raised their family in Cranston, R.I., and moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1998 following Albert's retirement.
Albert was born on July 17, 1927 in Providence, R.I. to the late Carl and Pauline (Rosen) Jacobs. He graduated cum laude from Classical High School in Providence, Class of 1944, and enlisted in the United States Navy. After a semester of college, Albert spent 11 months in engineering technical training with the Navy as a Seaman - First Class, and subsequently graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 1949 with a BS degree in engineering.
After a brief career in engineering, Albert founded three successful fashion jewelry and findings import companies and served as president of each: Princess Fashions, Eastern Import Company, and Pegasus Import Company. He enjoyed jazz music, fishing, Asian art, furniture and travel, and home aquariums.
Albert is survived by his three loving children: Sharon Jacobs Brown, Esq. and her husband, Ronald; Bradley Jacobs and his wife, Lamia; and Theodore Jacobs, MD and his wife, Esther; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Charlotte, in 2013 and by his brother, Gerald, in 1997.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sugarman - Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope Street, Providence, R.I., burial immediately following at Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, R.I. Mourners are then invited to lunch from 1:00-2:30 at the Courtyard Marriott, 32 Exchange Terrace at Memorial Blvd, Providence, Rhode Island 02903. Shiva will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
