Marcia and family: Damon and your entire family embraced and welcomed me and my sons as family. The void in my life will never be filled, as no one could ever fill his shoes. No one has to tell any of you what a special human being he was. There will never be another like him. He could make me smile or bring me to tears; he teased me like no one else, and got away with it!! My heart is broken and I will miss him forever.

You guys up there in Heaven better get ready...he will definitely be running the show!

My heart and love are with all of you.

Damon Mills will be remembered by me and my family as one of the most expressively honest persons we've known; loyal to his friends and devoted to his family. We did not see him regularly, but have always thought of how he welcomed us as friends and neighbors when we arrived on the Palos Verdes peninsula as a young family thirty-six years ago.

The loss of a friend is always deeply felt. The loss of a friend who is also considered a family member is a much greater loss.
Our remembrance of Damon will always be anchored by his unfettered, unconditional loyalty to our friendship and family.
We will always treasure our dinners together, our travels, our shared love of jazz, social and political discourse.
We will remember Damon's unyielding courage in the face of adversity. We will remember his dedication to living rather than surviving.
With his passing, we are still family, his and ours.
There are three things that last;
faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
We love you!

I came to know Dr. Mills 25+ years ago. I went to college with daughter Kelly and son-in-law Bob is my best friend.

Damon was on my personal Mount Rushmore of what a man should strive to be: a gentleman, a warm-hearted family man, an accomplished professional, well-traveled, well read, light-hearted, physically fit, mentally sharp and generous with his time, talent and treasure. He also had a way of making those he came in contact with feel special.

One "Damon lesson" I try to live by came when he was asked how he always seems to remain balanced even in the face of adversity. His response was that we should always build special personal time in for ourselves each day, month and year. Over time, I've vicariously enjoyed his many lessons by example: adventures to the Galapagos Islands, whole family trips to Hawaii and even his long-distance bike rides.

My life is much enriched as a result of having known Damon Mills.

To Marcia and the Mills family, please accept my most heartfelt condolences across the miles.

You were always so kind and welcoming to me! I will never forget you and Mrs. Mills offering me to stay and live with you and your family the summer before our senior year at PVHS. Kelly is still a wonderful friend of mine.
You are now riding your bike in heaven!
I will be praying for all of you and that God may give you all comfort and peace.

Damon...I recall him, an outstanding man and physician, father and husband. His son, Mark was a great athlete and friend of my sons. I last saw Damon on a Mammoth ski lift pursuing an active life. He was an intelligent, well-trained, pleasant, spiritual gentleman, sadly missed by those he touched,,,,,John O'Hara, M.D.
