WALCOTT, IA-John M. Schliekelman, 78, of Walcott, IA passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at his home.

I only knew John (and Pat) a little from their visits to see Chris in DFW years ago. But I feel I knew him well through her. And since she is a person of integrity, wisdom, and the truest of friends, I am sure John was the same. The planet will be the poorer for his absence.

Early in my career, I sat next to John for many years. I learned a lot from him, and he kept the office loose. His eating habits were legend back then :) I've always carried fond memories of working with John.

John was truly a fine gentleman. We had many memories with the Corps of Engineers while working there. He will be missed by many. I enjoyed visiting with him at his home in our retirement days. May the good Lord be with you in this time of need. Cheers

Patty, we are still trying to get this to sink in. We have had some especially good times in our later years with John, Dominic, S.K. and others. Good memories. He was a smart man and had a good sense of humor. You and your family are in our thoughts. Hugs from Dudley and Barbara.
