Raymond J. "Catfish" Grandick, 83 of Charlotte, Iowa died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte. Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Petersville. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Raymond John Grandick was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Dousman, Wisc., the son of John P. and Kathryn (Rowan) Grandick, Sr. He farmed all of his life in Charlotte. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte. He loved to fish for catfish, go coon hunting and he enjoyed working on his farm.
He is survived by two sisters, Catherine Smith, of Camanche, Iowa, and Eleanor Nabb, of Maquoketa, Iowa; one brother and his wife, Albin and Ethel Grandick, of Council Bluffs; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Grandick, of Delmar, and Arla Grandick, of Jamestown, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Leona Petersen, and three brothers, Norbert Grandick, Jerome Grandick and John Grandick, Jr.

We sure will miss Ray:

He was nothing but a "BIG SMILE" when he seen Kourtney.Alsway seen him get in his red truck & go to the gas station in the morning to hear daily gosip..Funny that when you are a kid you remeber someone so special.Ray was that special guy.Everyone loved Ray.He will be missed.
