A Million Times

If all the world was ours to give,
We would give it yes, and more,
To see you coming up the steps,
And walking through the door.... Read More
To hear your voice and see your smile,
To sit and talk a while,
To be with you that same old way,
Would be our fondest day.
A heart of gold stopped beating,
Two smiling eyes closed to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best!

To Julie's loving family:

I met Julie in the mid to late 1980's when she first came to work at Caltrans. She started her career with the state in the Data Processing Department. Eventually she transferred into Reprographics where I was working. She was a very hard worker and very dependable. She enjoyed photography and took very good pictures. When the state wanted to have Identification pictures taken I asked Julie if she would like to do that. She did a great job.

I remember we dressed for Halloween one year and she wore the neatest costume; she came as "Bam-Bam" from the Flintstones. I believe she made her costume and it looked so authentic. Julie was an extremely talented person.

She was always a very warm caring person, she accepted everyone and became everyones friend and confidant. She knew no strangers.

She loved her family and friends unconditionally. She spoke often of her brother James. She was always very close to his family and missed him so much. She was very proud of her three grandsons and would talk about them often.

I think if you meet someone like Julie once in a life time you are very blessed. I will always treasure my memories and will always miss her.

I pray that the Lord will give all of you the strength that you need at this very difficult time. Hopefully the memories of Julie will comfort you in the days to come.

God Bless and Take Care.

Gary and all of Juliette's family - I was so sad at hearing the news of Juliette's passing. I cried off and on all day. I didn't even want to go downstairs to the mail room because I would see all of Juliette's stuff and start crying again. I have known Juliette for the past 3 1/2 years working at CalTrans. She has been a true friend to me and has really helped me when I was discouraged, she always had something to say to make me feel better. I sure will miss all of the emails I got from her on a daily basis. They were always the right things said at the right time. She almost always had a smile on her face and she talked about her family so much, it seems like I really know all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be there forever.

Gary and family, I can not think of a single person who shed more light upon my family then Julie did. The love that she showed towards my wife, my children and myself will never be forgotten. Having a person like Julie in our lives is truely a blessing. I did not get to spend a lot of time with her, but what I do remember is that when I was around her, I always felt good inside. That is how she made people feel, and she didn't even have to try. Just her gentle smile and pure joyful laughter was enough. Not many get to live there lives touching people in this way. May all of us remember her with a smile on our face, even if the tears don't stop. May we remember the way she made us feel when she was with us, smiling at us, laughing with us. Julie, you will never be gone, you will live forever in the hearts of the people you touched with the love you gave.

Gary and Family,
I am so very sorry about Julie,I loved the warmth, happiness and joy she brought with her. She didn't always have a smile, but almost always. We ran into each other at the cardiologist and joked we needed to quit meeting that way. We exchanged numbers several times but never seemed to catch up to each other and for that I am truely sorry.

On the lighter side my daughter didn't remember Julie until I mentioned you had smoked the turkey for us one year, mention food and she knows exactly who the people are.

With deepest sympathy

Gary and family, I have known Juliette for over 30 years and I don't ever remember her not having a smile on her face. I know that she was the family member who was always ready to help everyone else when they needed it. My thoughts and prayers are with you through this very difficult time.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Dear Family,
May you be held in the same loving way that Juliette held those close to her with a loving smile, or her familiar laughter that will warm our hearts forever. May you find comfort and healing in the warm memories of times shared together. May the love of others embrace and enfold you during this difficult time. Sending you prayers, love, and hugs!

Juliette Alcove my bright shining star for sooo many years. My confidante, my lending ear. So many times I set and hear your voice guiding me through my life. Weather I chose to listen to you or not your influence on my life has been there to guide me through the good times and the bad times. My life has been such a roller coaster and the one constant in my life would be you! I was very blessed the day you became my God Mother! Your kind and BIG Heart was always open no matter if you agreed or disagreed on my life’s decisions. We had a special connection that I will always cherish. I know you are in a good place with my Uncle James and Grandma Rose but god I want to be selfish and have you right by my side. Please don’t worry about Uncle Gary I will do my best to do right by you and help in any way possible. I know you would want that. I love you so much.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly
in death we do the same.
You did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
and although we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Gary and family my sincere condolences on your loss of Juliette. I was very fortunate to know and love her being part of her extended Caltrans family. She was a very loving, caring and beautiful friend. May God wrap his arms around you all in your time of sorrow. All my thoughts and prayers are will you. I leave you with a poem...
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
